Hey Tekno,

Will you guys be at RCX in Pomona next weekend? I am itching to get my hands or eyes on a Lektron motor and the 8T 2.0 conversion. What's the pre-order date for the 8T 2.0 kit?

We won't be at RCX as an exhibitor, but we may stop in to check out the new stuff coming out. Losi 2.0 conversions are about two weeks away. I don't think we'll do a pre-order this time. When they are on the site, that means they are available. We should have enough to fill initial orders.

The option to mount using the faceplate mounting holes is still there. Shouldn't be an issue.

...the lektron 2200kv has the exact same specs as the medusa 36-60-2200

For both motors:
Max Amps: 123A
Continuous: 102A
Io: 2.8
Rm: 0.004
Max Volts: 27V
Watts: 920W

The only difference is weight:
Medusa 36-60-2200: 290g
Lektron: 310g

With the new motors out, will you still restock the Tekno RC Edition Neu motors, e.g. 1512/2Y/F ? All 1512 are out of stock at the moment.

The Tekno guys will chime in on this one.....I actually had the same question as you. From what I was told over the phone the Lektrons will phase out the the Tekno Nue motors eventually. For some reason, Nue has been having a hard time with their quality control.

:gasp: I didn't know Neu was having QC problems, I have a Tekno Neu and it's a top-notch motor. It'll be a shame if they quit selling them, we'll still have CC Neus but there isn't as much variety to them. The new Lektrons are made by MedUsa research, right?

I actually have a standard finned 1512 that still runs awesome. That motor is what makes me love Nue motors, runs cool and strong for both buggy and truggy. Unfortunately, I am on my 3rd Tekno Nue 1515 3D motor after the first 2 overheated during a usual trackday. The boys at Tekno totally took care of me on the first one, I had to send the 2nd one to Nue and they gave me the usual "we will cover it this time, but not next time" verbal spanking.

Unsullied_Spy 04.24.2009 12:33 AM

I didn't get the verbal spanking for mine, I used screws that were a bit too long and screwed up my coils. $105 isn't a bad price considering it was a total write-off and I should be able to get $200 for it.

js058515 04.24.2009 12:02 PM

The verbal spanking was worth it as they repaired/replaced my 1515 3d Square can for free. I think Nue's are great motors and don't mind paying for repairs as long as I can get some decent life out of it. I think the 1515 3d's were plagued with some disease as they were commonly being overheated. There have been some other size Tekno Nue's being complained about but they haven't been consistently breaking like the 1515 3d.

I am really interested in running a Tekin motor for the truggy and the buggy with the MMM to see how well those do. I was thinking about running the RX8 but was reading on rctech.net that for 6S the LVC can only be set to 18.0 and not higher. I didn't like that (though it should be a quick fix for Tekin) as I set mine between 18.6 - 19.0 volts for safety. If you run 4s or 5s, it should be a great speed control.

Any chance i can safely run the 1800Kv or 1500Kv in a truggy on 5s ?
If not what alternative would you recommend?

Thx a bundle

These are not intended for truggy use. They are just a tad too small. Go with a 1515 or 1512 based motor instead (1515/2.5D or 1512/3D).
