I like the magazines for bathroom reading material! That's where I do my best thinking anyways

I think there are more knowledgeable people about rc's here on this site than there are at these magazines. So if you take into account all the sites on the internet, there is nothing a magazine will tell you that can't be found on the net. And the net is more current than a mag.

I have subscribed to RC Car Action for 2 years. This will be the last. The reviews are fairly biased with quite exxagerated claims and shifty wording. ALL the Traxxas ad's are annoying at best.

I picked up a free copy of Xtreme R/C at the Worlds this year. I like it alot.
More real-world writing and a good dose of crawlers too. I will be switching to that rag in the next month or so.

Any chance that you will switch away from the bold face type to what the rest of us are using? Maybe in the next post or so?

You guys reading the mags online must have a laptop to tote to the shitter with ya, huh?

Arct1k 04.08.2009 08:26 PM

Somewhat biased as I had three reviews published in RCDriver this month ;)

That guy that wrote those articles is a pretty nice guy. It's nice to see him recognized for sharing his knowledge:party:

Would you prefer it? Who else?

I have no problem if I must conform. :whip:

Mike had an article published in RCD to this month...

I like RC Driver & R.C.C.A..Last month I bought the April issue of Xtreme rc cars & I won`t be buying it again.Heres some quotes from a article titled The most over & under rated.

This was in the over rated column
Quote:

{title 1/8-scale brushless buggie truggies} Novel idea, until you calculate how much you`ll be spending on the electronics to go almost as fast as a decent .21. How about we get a purpose built electirc 1/8-scale that doesn`t cost $800 in euipment only to last 15 minutes on the track and require two hours to charge back up - quote by Revilla
Another quote from xtreme rc
Quote:

{title brushless}Thats`s right,I said it!While I do love the lack of maintenance of brushless we`re finding out that just like with theirs brushed friends you can cheat just as easy, you can blow them up, and not all of them are created equal.they are more expensive too. So while they are for most part better, they aren`t this magic creations that eliminates the motor from among the reasons you can`t win. -quote by Buono
both of these are in the overrated section & they have a gem of interview Ernie the owner of team trinity(he still claiming brushed is better). It`s more then clear that Xtreme Rc cars is nitro bias

I figure two subscriptions is already enough,I just read rc driver while I'm in the store. I prefer my mags to be strictly cars and trucks unlike RCD which has boats and planes I have no interest in.Unfortunately RCCA has decided to add boats to their mag also.

Edumakated 04.13.2009 02:49 PM

I had both RC Driver and RCCA. Didn't renew the RCCA. I honestly find the mags pretty pointless. Good bathroom material though. I get frustrated because all the mags review products like they are an advertisement. Seriously, when was the last time you read a review of something in a mag and the article actually says the product is garbage?

I have been less than impressed with the electric coverage too. Pretty obvious none of the writers know anything about brushless conversions for racing.
