It really pisses me off cuz most of them were plenty good for the occasional use I gave them, and there is no way Im buying all of the new versions of them so I'm kinda screwed. I just bought a copy of XP pro to throw a dual boot on this thing. Probably wind up running the XP boot most of the time. Vista doesn't seem to give me any benefit.

Anyway... that was a bit of an off topic ramble. Sorry.

My actual point was, I was having problems with IE on this new machine. It would freeze up sometimes when it was trying to pop up open a new window and the only way to get back browsing again was to shut the whole IE program down and then go back in and try and find where you were. A few days ago I installed firefox and have not had any issues since. So another vote for firefox here.

Firefox has glitches every now and then, but FAR FAR FAR less than IE. You might wanna try Opera. Its probably the most stable of the 3. Just doesn't have as many add-ons.

I have the newest version and love it....it is super fast and easy enough that my little one can't get into to much trouble

I did download IE 8, and after the negative input from Brian and positive from Squee I am going with Opera v9.6. So far it does seem faster but I know lost all my favorites...I didnt think about that before I made the switch.....

lol, my input was from a programmer perspective, so don't let that sway you.

BTW: I fixed our issue. Turns out the user has to be logged in as an Admin to do the initial install and to adjust the security settings. The kicker is that an admin account can't just log in and do this, the user has to do it. As you can imagine, making everyone an admin (even on their own office PC) is not wise. So, when we roll out IE8, the users will have to have their account elevated to admin priveledges, do the necessary steps, and then revert back to a limited user. What a PITA! Good thing I'm not the LAN sys admin.

You would think that the browser would let a user make their own changes as long as it only affects their account. It's not like they're really installing a true app, just an ActiveX control. Bah, makes one want to switch to Linux!
