mx040 for the ring gear 26t

and

GS004 DRIVING BEVEL GEAR 9T

I haven't gotten the gs004 bevel gear yet.

In the mean time I (finally) learned how to properly shim the original HPI differentials. Helps when you have the right shims to use. I haven't had any problems since I shimmed it the last time. I previously was trying to get by with shims (only sizes the LHS had on hand) that were not the ideal size.

Any reason why you did not get the MX037 instead?

Mine are properly shimmed (I think ) but it still broke on me.
Any inputs on how you did it is welcome.

I just installed the regular Savage pinion (waiting for my spare hardened Flux version). Will run it tomorrow.

I read somewhere a guy who installed the standard (non-hardened) pinion and did not get any issues afterwards.

No, no reason. Didn't even look at the mx037 as an option.

The problem I was having shimming is that I was shimming it with a small space similar to how a spur and pinion would fit. I shimmed them this time tight to each other, no play to speak of.

Thanks a lot, that's more or less what I'm doing too.
