Like nitrostarter said, something has to be wrong in your setup to kill two neu's in a row like that. Either something seriously jacked in the drivetrain or you are getting dirt inside the motor.

How is your gear mesh? A proper gear mesh is key!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Too tight and it will cause these motors to over heat and possibly fry the windings like seen here.

it might have been on the snug side. but paper fits between the mesh just fine.
this could very well be my problem.

Neu

I just tried a 1515 2200 kv yesterday in a Lst2 with a big CEN Genesis wheels,
MGM 22418 ESC, 6S 8k M.A. lipos. I combine the gearing with a 63 spur and 30 pinion and it's still pulling wheelies but I notice it wasn't as fast as with a LPR MT tires. I put the stock 25 pinion and the motor only reach a 120 degrees. The truck weights about 15 lbs with the CEN wheels on. This motor is more powerful and heat less than my 80mm 2000kv Medusa. I'm surprised you aren't having goodluck with that motor. I own three Neu including a 1527 and it performs flawless.

Man if it happened twice, it's all you. If Neu repairs it this time, try plugging those holes. It looks like the bearing is gone, too.

what esc are you using?

If the wire was broken then it sounds like it's been bent back and forward too much, or not been supported enough and bounced around while driving. Those wires are fairly brittle and don't like much movement at all.
My 1515 1y is all most a year old and hasn't had any problems, so it's pretty unlucky to burn 2 off them.

+1 i was just gonna state that, i alway tie wrap my wires together and also to a post or something, AND put hard foam underneath the wires exiting the can, what ive done lately is layer up shrink wrap till its snug against the holes. BAM no flex, do you have pics of the wiring before the burn?

no i have them supported with heat shrink and made sure not to bend them.

chilledoutuk 05.11.2009 05:36 PM

from the picture it looks like you have tied the 3 cables together from the way they are bent towards each other, even the grommets have been displaced from this.

I think you should try using a castle-neu motor as its better designed for the rigours of rc and i doubt you would break it as easily.

i now have reason to believe that my mamba max killed my neu. i updated the firmware right before the run. and when i plug in my feiago all i get is cogging. i down graded the firm ware and it works fine. funny.
