Alright, maybe Pep Boys 1:1 tire prices:lol:

For a speed setup- no better way. Think about having a gear constant and not variable, may cost some speed but handling would be consistent and traction as well... don't seem like nukular rocket physics to me......

Losi 420s will fit 40 series wheels if you don't want to run their 420 wheels (basically a 40 series wheel with a 20mm hex).

I was actually refering to the lack of a diameter measurement, which was important to lincpimp. But you have enlightened me about the different series of wheels. Thanks

60+ mph, 5.75" tall, and just the other day it was extended revo chassis... uh oh linc's gone mad!

Just wondering if anyone has tried reinforced filament tape like this:

http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/115/3377/=1utloh

It has fiberglass strands running through it and is almost impossible to tear. I have always had to use a razor blade. I would think it with some of the other tires would offer the properties of a 1:1 steel belted radial. Especially if the tape was applied then backed with a liquid rubber glue type compound. Could probably be used with the 40 series road rage and still kept fairly light.

I found some 3m clear heavy duty duct tape. It has cloth fibers in it, and worked very well on the badlands. I gave it one wrap with about 1" overlap. This tape has very aggressive adhesive, but is a bit thinner/lighter than std duct tape. As I have beadlocks I tested the benefit with and without the tape. It cut the ballooning way down, maybe only 1/8-1/4" added radius when running after using it, and the truck was geared for the high 40s. Before I used the tape the tires would grow well over 1" to the radius. That and balancing are a must if you plan to run some speed.

The reinforced filament tape is definitely thinner and lighter than duct tape. Honestly I doubt you would add hardly any weight and the adhesive is probably aggressive enough to use without the rubber backer. I may try this on the Yusa you sold me when I get it going, someday......

HAHA, I remember that car. It sat a while before I did anything with it.

TexasSP 05.13.2009 10:32 AM

Same here, the only moving it does is from one spot to another when I need something that is sitting under it. It's a great conversation starter though. Everyone that sees it always asks questions. Maybe I should use it to decorate the coffee table......

my wife would love that!

It's almost like the damn thing doesn't WANT to get built.

Ok so I have decided to go with a std MT wheels as that wheel type offers the least offset that I can find. So I need a good street tire for a MT wheel. Something close tp 5.75" would be great, and less sidewall bulge would be better too.

nitrostarter 05.15.2009 07:55 AM

Don't want the 40 series any more?

i have those losi tires mounted on their 420 series wheels they measure right at 6.5" tall, but they need a serious job of balancing (i didnt do it cause i only bash around), hope this helps
