I would have to defend some of the abusers/misusers. The documentation that is being supplied with the MMM systems clearly states that, "High quality batteries are not needed, but will not perform as well", Or something like that. But in reality and later learned once failure occurs this is bad information. Bad batteries are killing the ESC's, at least that is what I was told by support. I know the MMM is a powerhouse. But until the manufacturer educates the end user properly before damage, they can expect alot of failures.
Just my .02 cents

my v2 is holding in there just fine on my buggy with 5cell

Kcaz25 06.16.2009 06:02 PM

All these replies and I still haven't seen that set of info I'm looking for! LOL Patrick?

Garcol 06.16.2009 06:15 PM

I am kind of curious myself. But like you I think it is going to be pretty low failure rate.

Pdelcast 06.16.2009 06:58 PM

Well, I can't give exact numbers... cause we don't have the breakdown on returns for V1 V2 and V3. But so far this year:

Built: 25740 (V3)
Returns: 540 (V1, V2, and V3s)

Note that the build is just V3s, but returns might be V1, V2 or V3. I've got someone working on breaking out just the V3 numbers.

Garcol 06.16.2009 07:44 PM

Wow thats actually very impressive.
I was thinking good, but this is better than I thought.

blueb8llz 06.16.2009 08:29 PM

yea, thats ALOT better than what i have thought as well.
well actually, i thought there would have been less than 540 returns but i didnt know CC built 25,740 units.

i doubt all 25k mmm's are being used right now though. prolly still on shelfs at stores.

johnrobholmes 06.16.2009 09:13 PM

I can tell you there aren't that many on shelves. HPI and traxxas don't buy them to sit on them. Horizon may keep a thousand on hand TOPS, and most LHS won't have more than a handful at a time. I can tell you Castle doesn't have them sitting around either, cause there are backorders for them.

I just burned one up, but it was the servo's fault. servo gave out and shorted the BEC with it dangit.

Arct1k 06.16.2009 09:32 PM

gosh darn it those are fantastic stats for the hobby - rock on...

TexasSP 06.17.2009 06:30 PM

That's probably the lowest failure rate for a MT/8th ESC I have seen in the past 8 years.

magman 06.17.2009 06:36 PM

Wow...impressive stats. I love all my castle controllers. My mmm v3 w/the new firmware and my 1512 Neu is soooooo smooth in my buggy it is scary

I find this very interesting, since I've burnt up two units on two different battery combos!!

Great job Castle! Keep up the awesome work!

Thanks Patrick! Those are good numbers. Maybe once you get the V3 broke out you could post again. Still I have seen a nearly exaustive cover of the returns a few months ago maybe even as far back as in 2008. If anybody know of what I speak let me know and maybe we can locate it.

suicideneil 06.18.2009 07:16 AM

How many V1s and V2s were produced, think it was like 500 of each or some quite low figure ( RCM guinea pigs ftw! ). Still grateful for my V1 thats live and kicking
