That's exactly what I need! I'm gonna need to know how you made that when I get back from camping.

No prob, just PM me and I'll send you a itemized list for parts and a some insight.

How did you mount the lexan? Did you just bend the end and screw it into the bumper?

Bondonutz 07.07.2009 10:47 AM

Yes, roughly a 45degree bend and sandwiched it between the bumper and bracket. I used a 4-40 screw that was a tick longer than the stock screw also.

Nice choice on batts as well! I wonder how fast I could charge those on my Hyperion 720 at 5C rates...lol

OK guys, well, here's just an update on my Neu MERV:

Project about 1/3 done. Still waiting on a bunch of aluminum parts and the MM PRO. I just ordered a Neu 1115 to replace the Neu 1112 I currently have in there. Overkill, YES, but it's fun and I like speed and I'm addicted to this hobby. I do still have the Tenbol 540 mount and the Castle 5700kv motor. Those have been collecting dust since Castle has had my MM in repairs for over a month. By that time the MM Pro will be out. I'm working on a CF extended chassis but I'm running into some problems as the front has a kickup and the rear has a slight kickdown. BTW yes, I know aluminum bends. I'll deal with it. This one is going to be strictly onroad bashing and speed runs with my next MERV project being a bulletproof all out basher.

Wheels are RPM Revolver WIDE crawler wheels. Foams were custom made by Gone_Banana on RCTech. He's a good guy and I'm sure if you contact him he can make you foams for which ever wheel you want.

Up in the air with the motor still. That's actually on hold until I figure out how to design this CF chassis so I have some clearance between the shock mount and the motor.

kazuaki 10.02.2009 02:57 AM

Wow, that looks nice. I like how you swapped out all the bolts too. Is that a kit, or did you raid the local hardware store?

great looking project dude. keep it up. its gonna be a fast lil b*. i have done a lot of working with carbon and there is a way to get the kickup and and bends that you need. get a propane plumbers torch from your local hardware store and once you have cut your basic chassis shape use the torch to heat the carbon. be sure not to get the hot "point" of the flame to close or it will bubble the carbon. practice with some scrap pieces before you do the actual chassis you will use. anyway heat for about 5 minutes from a few inches away. then proceed to bend the chassis to the angle you need. i would always use small clamps and after i bent the carbon i would clamp the carbon to the stock aluminum chassis so it will cool in the desired position. you will lose about a degree of angle but this works. i have done this with several 1/8 conversion and i race and bash hard and have never had one break. you will be fine with that. i would use a 2mm to 3mm carbon. also, after you have shaped your chassis you can cllamp to the stock one and use a sanding spindle on a dremel tool to go around the edges of the chassis and shape your carbon to the exact size of your aluminum chassis. good luck with the project and keep us updated.

Thanks for the info... I might give that a try. I just dont want to warp it since CF isnt the cheapest material around.
