i see my lehner arrived safely...uh, your lehner i mean. glad to see it. those Neus are looking great! as long as the shaft length on each of them is 3/4" or longer then you will be fine. hell, my hacker motors have only 1/2" shaft. if they are shorter than 3/4" then call Neu (number on their site) and they will replace/fix.

you know how i bought that 2215 from offshoreelectrics for my 1/5 conversion, well the mounting holes on the front endbell werent even threaded. so i called Neu and they sent me a new endbell in like 2 days. they didnt even want me to send the motor in or anything. they just took my word for it and sent me new endbell, bearings, and screws and i just fixed it myself.

anyway, i can tell you one thing right now. if all you have driven so far is German motors and these are your first Neu motors you are in for a treat. you will never buy anything else from here on out. i am willing to bet that. i have tried all the other german brands now and although they are built well and are great motors they just dont have the same efficiency as a Neu or the same torque.

Brian.. Yeah, I kinda figured that about the wires.. the lower KV motors have thinner wires... Also the one that didn't have the bushings had the thickest wires... so maybe, wires were too thick to use bushings... but I just triple shrink wrapped it to be safe..

ZPB... I was replacing all of the cheap motors with either a lehner or a neu.... If lehners were the same price as neu.. I would've bought them... :) but I'm always willing to try new things...

I have yet to try these babies out, Still waitin' for pinion gears .... Mike went away, and so did Dan Fischer... and SDP-SI doesn't work for me... so I'm kinda screwed...

Dude, you know I have pushed the piss out of every NEU motor I have owned. I have ran them at RPMS WAY past their spec sheets say. They have been perfect and continue to kick butt in every application I use them in. They are hand built so you will have differences in tolerances...etc. Doesn't effect quality though....

I also have tortued 2 of my Neu motors and one blew up on the second run and was replaced ( 18 months ago ) and since then...flawless.... and both are cool running as well. I have other motors as well...medusa, etc...and IMO they are worth the extra $ for piece of mind.

All mine are 5mm.

on a side note, jzemaxx...i have a neu question for you.

I've got an itch to drop a 1515 1.5D in my 8ight roller on 6S.

on 6S i run a max rpm around 55,000rpms with the neu 1Y...after about 10 top speed runs, i'm nearing 180 degrees geared 43/25. do you think i can realistically keep the same gearing with a 2700 motor?

I don't wanna waste my money if it's gonna be too much of a strain on the motor. what do you think?

wow dude! that nuts. i would think the 1y on 6s is max. i know guys who have run the 1.5d on 5s but not on 6s. that puts it well over 60k rpm doesnt it?

I am working on building a 2.0 buggy myself with the same motor. I will be running 3S and 4S. Above that I think is to much rpms for extended run times. But that all depends on the length of your races. Mine are around 15-30mins.

Thats actually only 59,940 rpm's unloaded, so less than that with a load.

My guess is with that gearing, you wont be able to make that many passes. Keep in mind also that Delta winds love to suck amps so I might push the ESC pretty hard.
On the other hand, keep the roller light and free rolling and I don't see a problem making a couple passes.

yeah, that's what i was thinking. and if it's got a huge amp draw it could be bad for the batteries too. maybe i'll just stick with the 1Y and start to build on my 18B for awhile. :)
