Not sure about that,it should have a lower drag co-efficient(by having rockers/inboard shocks but my money would be on the transverse motor every time in modified (or for brushless!)

The x10 was wind tunnel tested and it's shaft drive so it's better for fast motors.

Don't get me wrong,the x-10 is awesome,no doubt from anyone about that.I nearly bought one.

I was saying the x-10 has the aerodynamic advantage,that's why i mentioned the inboard suspension,that is the reason for this design.

Actually,in 1/10 racing,transverse/belt layouts traditionally have the handling advantage with more powerful motors.That's why in touring car racing, by and large, shafts are used in stock (where the drivetrain efficiency is more of an advantage than the handling benefits of the belt drive layout) and belts are used in modified.

With a longditudinal motor(shaft drive) the motor exerts a rotational force on the chassis,giving inconsistent handling from left to right(undesireable).With a transverse motor (belt drive)this force can be used to create an anti-squat effect under accelleration and an anti dive effect under braking(desireable).
This is the reason both designs exist,they both have different advantages.

I ment that shaft drive is more durable.

Oh,i see what you mean.That's one problem with the Yokomo, it runs open belts like a touring car,so some debris in there could ruin your day.Not much good for messing around off road.The other belt drives in that class are enclosed like the losis and x-5s.

And belts wear out way faster.
