Don't forget, this can be used with systems that have an internal switching BEC, like the MMM, MMPro, EZRun, etc...

All switching BECs on the market today have the same basic togology; the input is in series with the switching FET and bucking inductor. A failure of the switching oscillator or the FET will cause full battery outout to appear at the output. So, they are all prone to the same potential failure.

A la V1 MMM if memory serves, sure I saw more than a few people complaining the dying esc took their rx and sometimes servos with it.

I understand about the supplier thing (for cheap and reliable flow of rx leads), but I cant help thinking most places selling stuff like that tend to be overseas, and they would want a minimum order of xxx units + shipping, where as on fleebay there are tons of places selling rx leads for dirt cheap (with free shipping it would appear); not like theres much to go wrong with 3 bits of wire crimped onto 6 metal pins and a couple molded plugs afterall. You worry too much, epsecially if these would be sold in small batches- ebay wont run out of rx lead sellers that quickly surely.... :mdr: :wink:

I'd like the extra protection. I had a problem with a bec that wasn't working correctly. I just thought that it was time for the servo to die after almost 2yrs of faithful service. I hooked up a new servo and and it worked of a minute then it died. I didn't realize it was my bec until a little bright red dot showed up through the blue shrink wrap followed by the smoke signal indicating failure. The spektrum receiver was fine but the servo didn't like the 14v it got.

Small price to protect the ones (servos) we love. I'm in Brian.

Brian, is this the same thing that we had discussed last year ? I'd say this is like a condom, rather have it and not need it, then need it and not have it. I'd buy some. Since the wires, and time are whats really the cost, could you just put the components in a kit and have it be self assembly? I'm sure most would have the wires needed anyway.
