Lets see the new baby ?

What we need in the US is insurance reform not healthcare reform. Our elected idiots have it wrong again.

$7000 just for the deductible!! It's crazy what they charge for a delivery, a thing that was done at home for minimal cost a little while back. You're proof of why something has to be done to reign in cost. Good luck with the sale.

Unless she was high risk that is a great idea for a normal body function...birth. The majority of that cost I would bet is malpractice not a health provider that is overcharging.

Good luck Kulangflow

Just because I'm a proud dad and like to show off my kids, here's a few more recent pics:

Beautiful family you have. I love being a dad..best feeling in the world. No matter how sh***y my day is/was, coming home to her makes it all worth it.

I agree with that magman....My 2 boys(Benjamin9 and Miles5) are my life!(my wife is ok too)...I would sell all my toys if i had to....$7000 is a deal for a healthy new baby!!

The insurance is decent for everything other than pregnancy. Families in Utah tend to have more children than other places due to the population being roughly 50% Mormon. Insurance companies basically decided to take advantage of that.

The average Mormon family a generation ago was pretty large, but it's not so much anymore. For example, I have 7 brothers and 2 sisters from the same parents (10 kids including me), but my siblings and I are all having small families. I'm capping it at 3 kids myself. (for the record, Mormons are not polygamists, so please don't confuse us with those guys )

My company is based in California, but I work "virtual office" from home. They don't have group policies for Utah, so I have to pay for it all as if my company didn't even offer insurance. They do offer a PPO, but it's $700/mo with large deductibles for everything which would turn out even worse in the long run. Bleh.

Since we're not having any more kids, our insurance should be sufficient from here on out.

So your pre-existing condition was being Mormon then? How messed up. What a bunch of thieves, always trying to figure out ways to collect premiums, and then not have to pay out. That's the big trouble w/ not being part of a big group plan as its easy to find ways to exclude or drop you. Least w/ big companies you know you won't get dropped if you need care. But that's a whole other story.

Very nice family btw. I love my two kids.

Re: Utah. My Dad's side is from Utah, one aunt has 10, another 8, an uncle 6... My Dad is the weirdo w/ just two. Whenever we visited fam out there I was overwhelmed by all my cousins. A good number of them are keeping up the large family tradition, so I've got more family than I can count. We took a group photo once at a fam reunion, and we filled up the bleachers at the school gym, and the photographer had to back all the way against the wall to fit us in the lens. hahaha
On the flip side, my wife has one cousin and one brother. I have over 30 1st cousins alone.
