not sure where primus fits, not really metal, but when I hear "Jerry was a racecar driver" I want to fly man.

Love SOAD

Zeppelin forever

I do miss actual vocals.

Just played the "Airheads" soundtrack yesterday. Lots of old weird rockin' songs. I miss playing drums, I had fast feet man............

I'm a super big fan of Primus and I don't know where they fit in either ?
Les Claypool is in a world all his own ?

Talk about going soft, have you heard Fear Factory lately? Horrible...

Have any links to some of there new stuff? they havent came out with a CD since 04/05.

That seems to be the new thing though. Going soft. Distrubed and Slipknot suck these day. They went wayyyy soft.

Primus has to be put in an eclectic little genre really all it's own, kind of like Les himself. The discussions between Metallica and Les about his original try outs with them after Jason died sums it up well. I love Primus, it's nice to have really talented musicians that don't fit any mold.

I also must put up that even to this day Ozzy is one of the best lyricists and vocalists ever. The poor guy can't speak worth a turd but when he sings it's just amazing. His lyrics always continue to be awesome and one of my favorite non-Sabbath songs is "I Just Want You".

What's funny is Ministry used to be my favorite band, but after Psalm 69 they have never put out anything else truly different or innovative. Of course Al Jourgensen being unable to stay off heroin has never helped. Al's biggest problem is he is continually running from a demon he can't seem to kick. But better than Psalm 69 was The Land of Rape and Honey and then The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste. I also think Al losing Paul Barker was a major hit as well.

I have to agree with you there. To me, none of Disturbed's albums really compare to 10000 fists, only 1 song on that album could be considered 'soft.' I like the fact that it is metal, yet you can comprehend what theyre saying. I listened to some of their new stuff(post-Indestructible) and I didn't even finish listening to the song, let alone even consider downloading it.

Some of my favorite metal bands include
Metallica(the older stuff, the only song I like off of Death Magnetic is suicide & redemption)
Iron Maiden(You just can't not listen to songs like the Trooper, and Iron Maiden)
The Sword(the songs may all sound the same, but some good riffs)
SOAD
A7X(mostly the city of evil album)
Breaking Benjamin(yeah, alot is soft, but songs like blow me away are good)
Godsmack(Mostly the IV album)

You can't leave out the true classics like
Black Sabbath/Ozzy osbourne
Blue Oyster Cult
Deep Purple
Def Leppard
Guns n roses
the hendrix experience
Led Zeppelin (of course)
If someone were to ask me what my all time favorite band is, I'd have to say it's Zeppelin.

And if any metal band members see this, NO MORE WHINEY EMO SOFTIE CRAP! We don't care who's polls say whats better, stick to what you're good at.

Actually this is the real video for the Killswitch cover. Not sure who made that other version.

Slipknot has definitely gone soft... I like their newer album for the most part, and really wish they would remaster Iowa and their self-titled albums. The main reason I don't listen to those older albums is 'cuz their quality (and volume level) is so crappy.

Anybody listen to All Shall Perish or Whitechapel? They are both more modern death metal/deathcore, and are my favorite bands right now. Kataklysm is also great, as is Chimaira, but I've listened to those bands a bit much

emaxx 101 08.23.2009 03:29 PM

Born of Osiris is my favorite hardcore metal band, awsome music. They're young so they'll be making good music for a long time.

rabosi 08.24.2009 11:17 AM

Tool
Alice in Chains

Not your classic heavy metal but unique sound none the less.

hemicuda11 08.24.2009 01:28 PM

I agree most new metal sucks, but I do like Augury.
