I soldered up some connectors and took it out for a run.

Incredible Power! It will wheelie at almost any speed. I know the 40mph figure the speed calculator put out is conservative. Nothing was allowed for tire ballooning.

I like the stock tires, but they do balloon alot.

Temps rose fairly quickly on 4S with this gearing. No IR temp gun handy, but I could hold my fingers on it for about 5 seconds before it began to get uncomfortable.

This gearing does cog on startup about 30% of the time. I believe the gearing is too high and the voltage is too low.

I decided to come in and check the MMM settings. Start Power was set to low, and timing was normal.

After changing the start power to medium and the timing to lowest. Things seemed better. Cogging is less, and it seemed to not heat up as quick. No Noticeable change in power, still pretty incredible. Using the same 5 second uncomfortable finger test, I decided to stop the test run.

On the Hacker Website, it suggests this motor be operated between 5S and 8S.

My conclusion so far is, this needs a gearing and voltage change.

Let's put it on 5S or 6S and gear it 18/46.

The Hacker 11XL, being a 2 Pole Motor, doesn't like the tall gearing.

Now I need to order a MGT 46 tooth and modify it for this setup.

Tried Feigao 12XL with 6S and 22T Pinion/38T Spur.. no cogging at all... 8S should do you well with that motor....

Meh, leave your gearing and put 6s on that bad boy!!! You will quickly see if your batteries are up to snuff!

4s setups draw alot on startup, you may need some more lipo capacity to fully cure the cogging. I always ran the c50 motors with med start power and normal timing.

The Test run was done on 4S with 30C/40C 5000mah packs. They weren't even warm afterwards.

I also checked cell balance and it's almost perfect.

Here's some pics of my setup (plus a couple of other rides). I've added a fan/heatsink that just arrived and tried it out this morning on 6s again. Very impressed with the temps (112 motor, mamba max 123, batts 96). I did go with 40c Rhino packs and used 10 ga wire on my "Y-connector" for the batteries. Previously 12 ga and 30c Zippy packs before. Packs were always at decent temps but "y-connector" was a bit warm.

Yes, good looking ride! Thanks for posting.

What's your gearing? Is that a 11XL?

I didn't know that heat sink would stretch that far. I have one exactly like that. I may try it.

Nice Bug body! That's the next one for my E-LST2.

Thanks! I actually have the 10XL, sorry for the confusion. I travel a lot for work and usually have tons of time to imagine what rides I'd like to build but not much time to play with them. Lotsa online ordering and stuff, so sometimes details are missed. Happens to us older guys! BTW, that heatsink works really great. I took two vise-grips and pulled it apart a little to make it fit. Besides goin along with the color scheme and still leaving a bit of the motor to show through, it kept my temps down a lot. I ran again today for 16 mins motor 127f, batts 119f and esc was 135f.

Got that new ARC motor in today as well.. Here's a pic next to a 1515 2.5d and a Medusa 36-50-1600..
