I'm not saying he has to buy the PS3. You guys are funny .

Captain Sisko looks annoyed.
Yeah, he wanted the 360. |
I think he will be a much happier kid If you don't set the parental controls. Might be good to use as a punishment if he plays when you say he can't, or if he breaks other rules.. As a teen having your xbox parentally controlled makes you.. Well. Not cool.
Not my decision tho. |

So what are the "cool" games now a days? He doesn't like sports games.
The Transformers Revenge of the Fallen game looks pretty neat. You can switch between current and Generation 1 transformers. I am concerned about the ratings / game content but mostly about sexual references / innapropriate language than violence. |
Fallout 3 is awesome, but not for kiddies. Most of the really good games are for older players actually. Anymore, most of the games are pretty graphic, but have no problem throwing some F'bombs in there too. Most of my games only get played after 10pm when the kids are asleep.
Maybe let him pick out the game w/ your veto power... God knows what he's into. |

You may wanna consider renting games from a local video store or Gamefly. Or you could purchased used games from Gamestop and if he or you doesn't like them, you can return them within 7 days. *Worked at gamestop years ago* He can also download demo's from LIVE. |
Not 100% related, but I feel for parents these days (I have not had kids yet...) as there is alot more stuff they have to worry about. I can well remember when I was a kid playing nes, snes, genesis, sage cd, etc. I can well remember when nighttrap was banned due to some nudity (I had already watched plenty of skinemax by then)...
Just seems like kids want to grow up faster, and pop culture is pushing that as well. I can only think that I will attempt to expose my kids to stuff early on, and try to explain things properly, before they get to experience it with out guidance. I am sure that is a bit naive of me to think I can cover all of the bases, but I have a feeling I can do a better job than the unwashed masses. I cannot imagine having to set parental control for my kids, on a pc or vido game/tv. This kind of stuff does bother me a little about being a parent, lots that you have to think about... Car racing games should be a safe bet, save for GTA. I have had the most fun recently with the wii, playing tennis and boxing with my buddies on friday nights. We have a "guy's night" and generally have a few drinks and play video games. Pretty low key, but it is good to hang out. |

Received Xbox this afternoon.
Will any wireless USB adapter work? Or do I need to use the Xbox wireless adapter? |

I think I will just leave it wired. I got a 65 foot ethernet cable for $10 in Ebay.
|
I think there is a Linksys adapter that either works or can be modded to work, but you really are best leaving it wired. Wireless is great for browsing the internet from your bed or couch but for gaming you need the speed and reliability of a wired connection.
