Thanks for the info guys, I guess im just going to have to go twin sidewinders for the project .

doo540 10.18.2009 08:17 AM

so..
you guys are saying that if I run my clod on stock brushed motors, with one mmm feeding them and lipos, that the brushed motors will die quickly because they will be able to run for such a long time with no cool down period.

Dang - you guys are really making me want a Clod. I've missed out on a couple that have been on my local craigslist over the last year. Patience....patience.....

well, there are a couple saying that, I am saying I run them off of traxxas evx's in 2 clodzilla's on 4s, and havn't lost a motor yet. They are geared so low that to me it doesn't seem to be a problem. I honestly get kinda bored running them usually before the packs dead. I may not be as hard on them as someone else, but for just running around the yard, street, climbing hills that don't get it hung up, it does fine, and is about as fast as you would really want to go.

Hmm what are your guys thoughts on turnigy ESC?

Erevocanuck 10.20.2009 08:37 AM

I have a clod with a thunder tech racing ripper chassis & I paln to use 2 CC sidewinder BL system on one battery.Castle creations(castle link software) has a option for reverse rotation & one of the motors has to be reverse rotation for the clod

which one are you talking about. I'd say you would be more than fine with 2 60's if you wanted to go that route.

Have you used the 60's before? Just curious looking for some idea's, id like to not break the bank on this build :)

I do have a couple 60's just in 1/10 off roaders, they have served their purpose well. I don't mess with timing or punch on any of the ezruns, its uncertain how far you can go without frying it. I'd say 80% of the ones that have burnt up floating around the net have had those settings messed with.

Don't forget, you can swap any two wires of any sensorless system if you want to reverse direction. The motor direction function of the CC software is nice if you want to solder all connections without worrying if it's gonna spin the right way, or having to hook it up temporarily to see. Now that I think about it, that feature is probably more for the sensored feature for the MMPro because you can't just swap wires, but still a nice feature for the sensorless crowd.
