Brian,

I might have a solution for your problems. I just have to wait and see if it'll get done. Answer one thing for me though. If one has a product that can dissipate 2-3 times more heat then copper and with a little airflow (when vehicle is moving), would a fan still be needed?

BrianG 10.28.2009 02:54 PM

lol, I don't personally think a fan is needed as it is right now. But, any extra help in better dissipating materials will help I'm sure.

I'll probably start a new thread about it when and if it gets done.

Not saying my set ups are perfect but the fan is something I never had a issue with ?
I have 6 M.M.M's and a few have ben in for repairs, 1 has ben in twice but never a fan ?

Is the issue with wearing the fans out or them breaking from debris getting logged in there ?

I race weekly on 1/8 race tracks w/ large jumps.. the fans just give out over time from the hard landings I suppose.. notice they just released a 'new improved fan' so please don't think this has been isolated to just me. Most people I know have replaced the fans at least 1x. They are just cheapo computer fans after all, never designed for taking impacts etc.

Bondonutz 10.28.2009 05:11 PM

No accusations on my end, just curious.

Your "big jumps" on the track doesn't come close to the jumps I subject my trucks to.
15-20+ feet of air is the norm, and LOTS of hard ugly landings. I've killed a couple ESC's with these stunts but not the fan, go figure ?

BrianG 10.28.2009 05:41 PM

Maybe you kill the ESC before the fan has a chance to fail?

Bondonutz 10.28.2009 07:24 PM

In not so many words, yes.

i have always run everything fanless, the fan is a bandaid for a bad setup and its actualy makeing things worse by drawing power off of the bec

With learning from what I have (A LOT) from Mr.BrianG over the last few years I agree whole-heartedly.
In 6 different trucks my fans never come on, and most are on 4s.
