i checked out 1offrc.com and judging by how thick the TVPs look, i think they are the thicker, 7075 plates. i wonder if it will still do standing backflips with the extra length. i know better than to do them all the time and most of my backflips will be off ramps, but seeing the reaction on someone's face who has never seen a brushless MT? priceless. good thing it's got the BP diffs.:yes:

it came with some unexpected extras as well. in addition to the stock TVPs that were promised, it came with a pair of FLM TVPs. the extra tires it came with a 1/2 offset jconcepts wheels and badlands. there was also an extra bulletproof ring and pinion included. within the first 5 minutes of driving, the drive gear gave out. within that 5 minutes, i decided i don't like how the stock tires handle with the extended TVPs, so i have spent the past 3 hours taking the truck apart and putting it back together with the FLM plates. i also took apart the transmission and cannibalized my old nitro tranny and used the gear from that. tomorrow, i should be able to get a little more runtime on it. i should also get a chance to run my 3s lipos:party: |

i got another hour of runtime in yesterday and i am loving this truck more and more. i didn't break anything this time. i think the diff internals busted because the 4 screws that go into the ring gear and diff cup were loose and there might have been some play in the gear mesh. i better check the screws in the front diff as well because i'm sure they are loose too.
i'm surprised the truck does standing backflips on 4s. i am running a RC-M 18t pinion with the stock spur gear and after 2 runs, the gear is wearing down and there is a bunch of pinion gear dust all around it. the gear is pretty old, but i haven't had any issues before because it was always paired with a plastic spur gear until now. i wonder if mike will be willing to replace it if i send a pic or two of it. it wouldn't really be worth warrantying it if i had to send in the worn out one. other than the tires having some crazy side-bite, i really like this truck. it's everything i wanted my nitro savage to be, only better:intello: well, my nitro savage body is nearing the end of its life and the savage xl body it came with is too long, so i need to find a new body. i'm not too concerned with the looks of the body, i just want it to last as long as possible. i was thinking about getting the baja bug style body from proline because the round shape of it looks less prone to cracking. i am also looking at the axial diablo body because it is .060" thick and it is only $25. it doesn't look to bad either. |
Which proline bug body. I just bought one for a slash I thought I would try out. I could shot some pics for fitment...I dont even know if it will work. I like the sound of the standing back flips on 4s, very impressive indeed. I guess the shorter chassis is pretty decent.
I wonder if I have a older version or the newer with the BP diffs. Hmm i guess we will see. |
Strange your pinion is showing wear, my RRP Mod 1 pinion still looks as new, 40-50 runs later.
As for bodies, the stock GT2 shell is cheap at tcscrawlers, a Bug / ST body on a Savage just looks wrong to me. |
