Hate to break to you guys, but as much as that thing is an engineering marvel, it's also useless and doesn't stand a chance against rock crawlers.

As a Jeep guy AND an engineering major, that thing is cool machine, but that's it. It would snag everywhere and be S L O W. It's massively heavy and although the idea is solid, the design just isn't compact or fast enough to compete with the rock crawlers of today.

Sorry to be a buzzkill. If you guys really want to see some cool new rock crawling stuff, check out the King of the Hammers race. It's Baja rock crawling on steroids.

Wow... Not sure why one would want chain drive... I figured hydraulic would be the way to go, maybe not for speed, but definetely for torque.

It is always easy to say one thing or another but until it is actually placed in some level of competition against other vehicles no one really knows what this thing can do compared to the rest. Lots of us are engineers, and have done some crawling ourselves, but that does not mean that we know everything to a "T". What looks good on paper might crash and burn in real life testing. Watching the video I do not see him snagging on anything, but I do see him doing things with that rig that I know a regular rock crawler can not do. So your not breaking anyones heart here, because nothing has been proven one way or another. Your opinion is just that, your opinion. Honestly I doubt that he will put that thing in any kind of crawling comp anyway. At this point it is just a show piece, but who knows what it may lead to for design concept vehicles?

By the way, what I'm saying is not opinion, it's simple FACT. That rig has a long way to go before it's even close to a modern crawler, especially in a comp. Never said it wouldn't work either, it's obviously working in the video. I'm curious to know how many of you are wheelers or have even driven a rock crawler or anything with locked axles for that matter.

One more thing - Like I said, crawlers are not "obsolete". The future of rock crawlers is the King of the Hammers race, which has exploded since it's inaugural race in '08 or '07, can't remember which.

I was a serious 4X4 weekend warrior years ago, and helped design and built all sorts of rigs when I was in my 20's and 30's(now 50). All I am saying is that you can make negative comments about this truck all you want, but until it is actually tested in the elements compared to other vehicles no one can really say one way or another what it can or cannot do. It looks very capable to me and with a good driver behind the wheel it may surprize allot of people. Maybe even you. Who knows? Don't get your panties in a twist young man just because everyone does not see things your way. I'm not saying that you are not correct. I am merely saying that none of us really knows for sure just by watching a few minutes of video.

Who's panties are in a twist? And when did I say it didn't work? Maybe you should read my posts again...

Oh, and I've heard the same things, even worse, from people who've wheeled with it. It works just fine, but it just isn't practical. Like I said, a marvel of engineering, but just not up to snuff yet. Instead of looking for a fight, maybe some of you should pay more attention to detail and not jump on the first "opportunity" of attack. Read what I said again, and realize that, in fact, I actually gave a dual sided review of it instead of dismissing it completely.

Oh, and like I've said TWO times already, it's NOT the future at all. If it were, there would be hundreds of them by now. Look up KOH, you will see what I'm saying and won't even care about this thing anymore.

we're all "just saying" stuff. if it's taken personally it has been taken the wrong way. keep an open mind and discuss, even debate, but don't argue. we're all smart guys here and having a different point of view is always a good thing. and both of you guys neede to stop wearing panties, that's Linc's thing...............

Let me jump in and post my .02 about what ypu just said. Being a Jeep guy and having an engineering major is a big plus towards your opinion but that doesn't mean shi#t to me. I also am an engineering major (M.E and graduated back in 1990) and to me that rig is more than capable of rock crawling. I had my own experience crawling with tube buggies before they became mainstream during my tour of duty in San Diego from 1991-1994 (how old were you at that time :lol:). Majority of rock crawling competitions in the US does not emphasize speed but rather finesse and accuracy in tackling the obstacles. I have seen it done in Moab (never drove though) and only a few of them go fast.

This rig has it's flaws (what rig is not anyways) but for somenody to come up with this is a genius in my opinion. Saying is akin to what the Jeep guys used to say when tube buggies first started coming out back in the early 90's.

By the way, I still would not be wheeling a jeep unless it's one of the older models (built CJ5 with the Perkins diesel engine) :na::na:.
