You can still buy the new complete UE 8-Spider/Ultralite and UE 6-Spider/Ultralite kits from the UE Store, but you will need to find the GA bulks on eBay. The 7075-T6 GA Bulkheads are the best bulks ever made, so spending a little time finding them is well worth it.

The FLM Hybrid system should fit in here high up IMHO fitted with UE gears.

Thanks Chad! I've been kinda looking at putting a brushless in my Tamiya Txt atm, I already have a 3.3 electric converted Revo, so I figure that's pretty close to having an Emaxx, no?

Looks like good info but I'm a bit confused.

I need a stronger diff case or bulk head combo one piece.

Currently using LST gears in Losi aftershock alum cases with modded Emaxx 3906 grey bulkheads

The Losi ring gear is .38mm or .3inch larger than the FLM hybrid bulk but it's a 1/8 gear set, so I'm confused why they say 1/8 fits when clearly it does not.

If I want a Aluminum Hybrid bulks then what gear sets do I have to choose from ? I want speed not more torque.

I have a custom made AWD 6s 1/5 on road Rev-Osi revo & losi drivetrain.
If I need to ditch the revo and losi diffs and axle shafts I am fine with that, so what do I need to go stronger ?

it looks like ofna or hot body gears in FLM bulks, is that correct ?

I was set on FLM hybrids with 1/8 gear... but after some reading (including this thread) I'm thinking differently.

I didn't even think about how much more disassembly it would take to do things using the hybrid/combo bulks... anytime you need to pull the bulks off the diff has to come apart. I'm not really sure how big of a disadvantage this is...

Why would you need to separate the bulks though, you can just remove them as a whole unit- not like you cant remove the chassis, braces, towers, a-arms or driveshafts without splitting the bulks after all..

I'm just trying to weigh the pro's and con's of hybrid vs standard bulks. I want to get something going very soon.

I've already picked up the output shafts (5454) so I'm leaning towards the hybrids lol.

Just need to figure out what internal parts (gears) I need to get.

I'm trying to see what I can find on ebay/online. I'd like to buy 2 diffs and shims for the FLM hybrids. I see that the gear ratio will be a bit difference so I'll have to change my gearing... no big deal.

Can someone please help me buy exactly what I need? Often I buy a lot of different parts and figure out what works on my own... It gets expensive though :(

Piece of cake- you have a few options:

hotbodies lightning buggy diffs ( hard to find complete )
ofna buggy diffs
LST2 diff internals ( cheapest route )

You'll need the 43/13 ratio diffs whichever ones you choose, since the 43/10 option drops the ratio too much, resulting in you having to gear up ( spur/ pinion ) alot in order to make any kind of speed.

UE diffs & FLM hybrids use exactly the same parts & same method of installation, so its all gravy :smile:

I have ofna shocks... so I've been looking at Ofna stuff.

The problem is finding the proper ratio. Most of the diff's i'm finding either don't have the gear tooth #'s listed or they are 46+.

These look nice but it might be cheaper/easier to go with UE.

No idea on the gear it comes with or if you can buy others... have to look into that. These actually look nicer than the UE's but I'm not sure which is better.

Whats the point of upgrading diffs if they don't break?

:lol: I haven't even managed to break a stock set of diff's (I have some cheap aluminum bulks now) but I know as soon as I start running 6s things are going to break.

Even now... the real weak point of my E-Maxx is the chassis! I hit a telephone pole at <15mph and broke a chassis in half D:

UE do, but all they use are Ofna Hyper diffs basically- look on ebay etc for some 'ofna differentials'. Hotbodies are getting hard to find these days for some strange reason, but they are just as good. Just add in the needed bearings & some 8x10x0.2mm shims...

If you want to use the stock driveshafts or the traxxas cvds & drive cups ( or you can make your own by cutting the threaded part off of these: traxxas stub axles ).

You'll also need these driveshaft coupler with 8mm bore ( v2 ) if you want to use the stock center driveshafts, or pickup a couple 8mm drive cups such as these with an 8mm bore.

The only part I don't see is the 8mm bore v2 driveshaft coupler. I am running Traxxas Opti-drive cvd's/driveshafts so I will need to get some 8mm drive cups for the center shafts.

I'm going to do the rear diff first and document everything so maybe it will be helpful to someone else.
