I currently have 9 operational vehicles, one not, and one in the process. And unless I get into dire straights, I will not sell any just to make a few bucks. I look at it this way; this hobby keeps me busy and challenged, and hurts no one. I only spend my disposable income on it, so the bills are getting paid. Sure, if I didn't have this hobby (as well as smoking), I'd have quite a bit more cash, but it would only get eaten up with something else. I don't have a problem if my better half goes out and buys doilies, boots, jewelry, picture frames, or any other things I deem useless; it's her disposable income.
I would tell her a couple things if she is insistent: 1) Sacrificing works both ways; if you have to sell something, then she has to sell something of equal value. 2) R/C stuff has a very low resale value considering what is spent on it. If anything, tell her you won't get any more things, but selling what you already have makes no financial sense. |

Well as it is I've agreed to ditch one, and put the funds in my son's college fund out of her reach, so back to the initial Q I guess. Am leaning twd the Hyper, having raced up to 6mths ago I still have a weakness for it, so if I put the Savage Flux gear in there, how would I gear it? (4s lipo is the local limit) here is a pic as she is now (yes thats a hobbypro motor mount, Mike was [and is?] out of stock of the Hyper mounts *boooo!*)

They have Losi Rims and the Tyres look to be Proline Bowties.
Smallest pinion in Mod 1 I have is a 17t, on 4s A123 that'd be 40.82mph Would that work? Obviously on 4s Lipo I'd have to find a 15t pinion and would land at 40.39mph Keep in mind the Savage Flux motor won't allow an external heatsink or fan due to it's non-standard dimensions. |
a savage flux motor is a neu motor and doesn't need silly fans, It's a cool character all by itself. On 4s you won't even be pushing it. Your gearing sounds about right.

..maybe it'll stop the esc fan coming on as it always seems to in the Flux too

College funds?
[QUOTE=fastbaja5b;347374]Well as it is I've agreed to ditch one, and put the funds in my son's college fund out of her reach
So let me share my veiw about college funds. There have been a few studies done about the wealth of having your parents pay for your college as apposed to working your own way through school, or acqiring some level of scholarship. We have five adult children who have all found their own way through college, and in fact one of them is working on her Masters degree right now. None of them recieved or asked us for money, because we raised them with the belief that if they truly want to go to school they will find their own way to do it, and have more respect for where the money is going. With the economy being what it is today saving for your kids to go to school 15 years from now, when you have no idea whether or not they will even go to college is the least of our financial problems. Not finding a happy medium with finances in a family is the number one killer of a marriage. You have to work on, and reach some sort of an agreement to which both parties are somewhat satisfied with their half of the responsibilities. If you can aford it the play money has to be almost on the same level as well or there is going to be jealousy at some point that will explode into arguments that will end your relationship. Along with that needs to be some level of equal input towards paying the way for the lifestyle you have. We are not in the 1950's any more. If you want a woman to respect you then you have to lay down the law in YOUR HOUSEHOLD and stand by your principles. If not then you are doomed to being treated like a child yourself. |
