Get an RC-Monster motor mount

stum 02.22.2010 07:11 PM

Amain as well as impakt carry the castle/tekin motor mount. It will open more doors for motor options down the road if you so desire. The 99 lektron will do the job great and won't cost that much more than the mount does so it's a very good option at that price point and could keep the 1y for spare or sell for some $$

I just ordered up a RCM motor mount for mine the tekno just strains the motor too much for my liking.

The Elite Mount is something that I only wish I had the extra dough for, but RCM has taken care of my needs with their mounts for too long, and they do a fine job.

stum 02.22.2010 09:04 PM

Does the RCM mount work on a tekno chassis?

reno911 02.22.2010 09:25 PM

The tekno uses the stock diff mount so I would assume that the rcm mount would work.

I plan on using all the holes where the tekno mount once was to mount my fan.

As long as the Tekno uses a stock center diff mount theres no reason a RC-Monster one wouldn't work. Mike makes great pieces, they fit well, and we should always support the guy that gives us this great forum to chat on

yep the RCM mount will wrk with no problems. It makes a good kit even better! i had a takno converted 8ight as well. i bought 1 long shank pinion before i bought mike's mount. it makes things much easier when mounting and setting meshes. Also have to agree on supporting Mike and this site!

Too bad, already found and ordered the 42mm tekno mount from guess where, tekno rc! I thought impakt was tekno rc's store, but I guess not?

Keeping the popular 1y then, so I'm running 4s, maybe 5s. I am looking forward to trying this car, with that green beast powering it:yipi:

I think mikes mount, allthough brake friendly, will make braking harder to set up with gearing options still on my side. It will also eliminate the elektri-clutch, and even though most of you guys seem to hate it:lol: I want to be able to try it. Othewise I too would rather have mikes mount, nice short pinions and custom batterybox:smile:

AND, not to be rude, but I can not see how anyone could have made mikes mount work with a TEKNO eight. The tekno kit turns the whole diff mount around, and the eight has a wider spacing between the two lower screws in the front. SO the tekno eight has too wide spacing of the lower screws where mikes mount would go. Or am I wrong?

Mikes mount comes with a spacer for the other side of the diff. Raising the diff so you can flip it around on the chassis and clear it since there is no hole on that side. The tekno chassis has the hole on that side since the kit is designed to flip the diff. So in short yes they will be a perfect match.

I have finally received my MMM, but I'm selling the 1y motor new. My dad had forgotten to order the 42mm mount, so I ordered a medusa 36-60-1600kv instead from here. So I will get to run my beloved 6s packs.

I bought tools to be able to work on the car, since I only had metric tools. And also different damper pistons, damper seals/o-rings, new vented "hd" brake disks, and diff gaskets.

So now I am about to tear down, wash and reasemble the car with new fluids when I can only find some free time, damn stressfull life:lol:

Then in a week I'll get the tekno kit, then another week will pass before I get the medusa. By then I will have all I need to finish the car:yipi:

I am now in the process of tearing down the car, front end is done and is in the dishwasher. I like this restoring process, its relaxing for me:smile:

I will post progress pics when I have cleaned all of the car and start to reassemble it.

Ate my words here. :whip: The RCM mount and the tekno chassis are not compatible. I will be calling tomorrow to see what can be done.

RCM mount flips only the differential, whereas the Tekno flips the diff and the two diff mounts. Making the larger diff mount face the rear and the smaller mount, which used to be in the rear, which is replaced by the RCM mount, is in the front.

So the RCM mount now replaces my front diff mount which isn't what I need. Nor am I going to hack up the nice Tekno chassis to make it work. I will call and see if it is possible to have one made for the larger diff mount.

Hi there, sorry for not posting enough.

I have received the medusa 1600kv, it looks good and I love that the wires now come out the side. After reading about all of you happy medusa owners I think I can feel lucky to be able to get one before they are all gone:yes: BUT, I read about endbells coming off..... Is there a "preventive fixing of the medusa endbell-thing for dummies" somewhere? I remember reading something in passing about sanding the face and using JB-weld. BUT I do not think I can find anything similar to JB in norway.

I am still waiting on my tekno kit, so I may try the medusa in my caster ex-1 pro. The mega motor 22/30/2 thats in it now is ok, but I think the medusa should be much more power and much less heat in that car.

Sorry for OT in advance; I have't been the most effective rc-car mechanic lately, due to severe sleep problems. I hope none of you get it! If I lie down to rest after dinner I fall asleep before I hit the pillow (for an hour max), but at night I have no chance. I have become a hobby-insomniac:lol:. My hope now is a mixture of light treatment and the natural hormone melatonin, fingers crossed.

Luckily, when I do get my eight done I can drive all night at a local school's sand/gravel yard. Because, they leave the lights on all night:intello: Thats partly why I decided to move here, since half the year in norway you come home from work after dark:whip:. That and the relaxing neighbourhood for people with dogs, since my dog is my best friend:smile:

I envy your real 1/8 tracks, I have never even seen one. The nearest is hours away, and is more of a 1/10 track with astroturf. If only I had a large property, money and other stuff I can only dream of, I'd build a huge rc-haven. With tracks for all classes, and I would let everyone drive and enjoy the hobby..... Some day(in a mean voice while pointing to the heavens above)!!!

Sorry for the long wait, here comes update and finished pics.

I have run the tekno 8ight with electri-cluth(:na: to all the electri-crap haters, hehe)and mek brakes at r/f 70/30 many times and it has easily become my favourite car. It runs cool at 13/48, and handles perfectly. I love the tekno stuff. Though my new used MBX-6 will have mikes mount, mek brakes and slipperential, just to try several nice setups.

Setup is MMM, 6s 3000mah, and medusa 1600kv, still waiting for the 1300kv i ordered weeks ago, its been shipped though. With the new motor I also ordered the new one-piece 3-shoe clutch and severall ti-ni bells, should be a nice upgrade. The 1600kv will go in the new car.

Temps are:
Motor:120f
ESC:100f
Batts:110f

I choose the tall/short battery on purpose to get the weight more to the front.

As you can see in the pics I had to use a slightly odd brake linkage setup, since using an Y-cable I can not change the direction of the brake servo. I have a used DX3.0 on the way to get the needed mixing and use normal linkage. I only payed 70$ for the DX3.0 with two recievers, and I bought two more recievers from another seller today cheap. The DX3S does not have mixing of the channel 2 and 3, otherwise I would have gone with that.

Here are the finished pics, thanks for reading.

Now moving to 5s and rather gear up a bit, thats more like it for 1600kv.

My other tekno buggy is getting a 6s setup, with cap'ed MMPro and tekin 1400kv.
