It just occurred to me that it wouldn't be too difficult to make a new top plate myself.

Bare in mind if your going to use the larger spurs, the screws for the top plate from the motor mount run quite close to the spur.

The easiest way to modify would be to simply shorten the legs on the existing top plate - I made the legs long enough and drilled and tapped the holes deep enough to allow this as an option. If you remove a known amount and move the mount holes for the front the same amount on the template, you have a smaller package that fits smaller diffs directly. :)

Ah, beat me to it... This was my suggestion as well, I just wasn't aware of how deep the holes are on the top plate and if there were tapped all the in.

Hmm... yea, I'm not sure how much shorter your slipperential is, just a guestimate based on the pix and the shim recc's.

The other idea would be to make a second set of mounting holes offset from the first. It would be a bit more of a pita, as the F diff mount would need more work, but could span a range of sizes from the long diffs, to shorter ones like the SlipDiff w/o tons of shims.

IDK, just a thought. I'm sure you will come up with something clever. :)

Here's a crappy pic of what I mean.

^^^ and that would be it lol

can anybody link to shims to center the diff in the mount? They nhave to be narrow enough to allow the drive cup to pass through and I can't find any

Maybe use a 16mm OD o-ring as a shim.

I used these.

I was thinking from the perspective of a completely custom installation. If someone was making their own chassis and such.

Mike, do you have the dimensions on the slipperential? Ie. bearing to bearing distance? I'm doing a custom chassis and plan on using the slipperential. Would be very beneficial to have this info prior to machining........

You could also make the top plate shorter and have a few different spacers included to space out for longer diffs?

bdebde 02.25.2010 04:10 PM

Seems easy enough to just cut the "legs" of the top plate to distance needed; I like it.

You need 13x16 shims. Here's some on the bay> http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kyosho-13x16...item3383e5d17b
