The wiring looks like Turnigy. Even have that odd kink in the power wires right outside the pack. Do they also have the PCB?

reno911 03.20.2010 02:46 AM

I would say most likely on the board. I think the kink is due to the shrink wrap, most of my packs have that. I have 4 zippy's that I have taken apart to h2o proof and the discharge leads are the same, perpendicular to the pack but kinked with the shrink wrap.

Any problems fitting these in battery trays some are over 50mm wide.My 4s 5000 Blue lipo is 50mm wide and barley fits in my Slash 4x4 and way to big for my RCM SC8E tray.

reno911 03.20.2010 09:18 PM

All my RCM battery trays are 52x142 i think, I always had the tray made to the packs. Then just had the same one made about three times for various cars. As for the Slash I dremmelled a bit of the side away to help clear larger packs, and I got rid of the bar and went with straps.

Nice review Reno. So these are righteous packs eh? I might get some then as my budget really isn't all that good atm. I use a Hyperion charger, do I need a special adapter for the balance?

reno911 03.28.2010 09:57 PM

They have jxt or jht whatever the darn name of those balance tabs are. So you would have to get an adapter for hyperion.

Anyone got some IR measurements? That 6S 5000 is tempting for my Flux since it's a bit shorter than Turnigy. Will it be enough for a MMM + Castle 1520 @ 40-45mph? I also want brutal torque.

I think I'll wait for the 40C Turnigies to get back in stock for my 8ight-T and Muggy (also 1520) since I'm not that limited by size.

Just got mine today (2) 4s 5000, what are those clowns in shipping thinking ???

Mine were wrapped in thin bubble wrap and stuffed into old heli canopys and shipped FedEx in a envelope/bag. No damage to lipos but the potential is was high ???

FYI, I seriously beleive these Lipos are reshrinked HC lipos ??

Looking at the pictures, that was my initial thoughts. They are being mass produced by 1 mfg and each company is repackaging them. Like the ESC HC sells. I've seen them under 3-5 different names.

Good to know if true, since Turnigy's kick some ass. Now we don't have to pay outrageous HC shipping costs!!

However, their C ratings are slightly different.

Mine were in a box wrapped individually then inside the fedex bag. All was okay though, just like yours. I worked for UPS I have seen what loaders do to packages especially in the airbays. I am always grateful when anything comes through any of the carriers in good repair.

Quick update, I have about just shy of 10 cycles through each pack now and they are holding well. I do recommend trimming off some of the shrink wrap around the wire exit to let the leads flex. I was out bashing, and on one of the packs the heat shrink cut a nice size hole into the silicone on the leads wire. Pain in the butt to remove the connecter to throw some heat shrink over it.

Ordered the 6S 5000 30C. It better have all the cells in order. I've been reading a thread on RCG about yeshobby and apparently they're slow on shipping.

Are your pack dimensions same as stated? (especially the length)

reno911 03.29.2010 03:03 PM

Their dimensions: 145x52x39

Mine: 143x49-50x35

So I would say they are a bit generous.

suicideneil 03.29.2010 03:13 PM

I'd call that a good thing really.

nitrostarter 04.08.2010 11:03 PM

So how are these cells fairing out? Still good? More people with experience?

reno911 04.08.2010 11:19 PM

Still holding strong, raced them through a few cycles as well. 5 minute heat with 10 minute main. Held up fine. Use the first pack twice for the first heat and main. Charged it at 10 amps between time and never showed any sign of wear. I am completely happy with these packs, I am looking forward to buying more for other applications.
