I hope that wasn't to me. I am having a little laugh vs the OP's comments from another opinion thread. If you can't see in the irony in it or don't know what I am talking about,. CTFO.

I learned a lot about certain members reading through the "health care" thread. It was a pretty "extremist" read.

I was not born in Vermont ( I was born in Minnesota), however I call it home now, and wouldn't change a damn thing about our "stereotypes". I would rather be surrounded by tree-huggers, instead of rednecks and white-boy gangsters... oh wait, we have those here too...

No, sad because the only thing you seem to have to add to this conversation is rude comments and snide remarks, that's what's sad.

Gun are tools. Just like a hammer or a screwdriver. And just like a gun a hammer and a screwdriver can be used as a weapon. A weapon is any object that a person can use to engage another person in violence. So to me a gun carried as a self defence tool is not a weapon at all, being as it is not used on the offensive.

I collect guns as a hobby, and enjoy target shooting, as it builds strength, focus and could be really handy skill one day should I have to defend myself against someone else. I do not hunt, just cause I do not have the time, nor view it as something I would enjoy. Nothing against hunting, as long as you eat what you kill.

As far as people not liking guns, well it is a free country and do what you will. You will not hear anything negative from me. However, don't think for a moment that some crap socialist views on gun control will do a blind bit of good to lowering crime or making the streets safer. All it will do is can another right that we all have. So if you don't care for guns, keep it to yourself, the last thing us pro gun people need is another poorly informed sheep trying to balance on their soap box of stupidity.

You may also find that most pro gun people are also anti welfare and pro getting off their ass and working for a living to support their families. This group understands how great the US is and realizes it was made that way by people standing up for what they believe in. Not rolling over to some sort of socialist regime that preaches god knows what to the sheeple...(sheep + people = sheeple)

In my best Sam Kinison voice,

Good answer, good answer

If people would just think about the fact that making guns illegal, only takes the guns from the people who obey the law. Why would any logical person want them illegal ?

SunnyHouTX 03.31.2010 11:57 PM

Damn linc, that's a very good point of view. Another reason why looting is at a bare minimum during a natural disaster here in Texas, even when the national guard and army haven't made it there yet: most of the locals are armed and Texas has a little gem of law called the Castle Bill, like some other states also do. Even the women folk are practitioners of this bill, as evidenced by a lady who shot dead an armed intruder in here home. Brings a tear to my eye...

Goes back to a major point in this debate: if you take the right to bear arms away from law abiding people, the ones who end up with the weapons are the bad guys (of course) and a government who governs over an unarmed population. And this same government will soon evolve into using threat of force to keep everybody in line.

Why anyone would think making laws against objects would do anything is crazy. Objects have no free thought, thus they cannot obey laws, no be held accountable for their actions.

The laws are made to limit the freedoms and add power to the gov't, pure and simple. Plus they are made with "good intentions" that are easy to use to manipulate the sheeple. I do blame the vast majority of people who just have their heads in the sand. I am not exactly a shining example myself, but pushing water up a wall is not my idea of a good time. Being a realist I understand that stuff will be hitting the fan shortly, and I want to be ready for it.

Logic and gov't are at odds with each other. If you take logic all the way it would actually eliminate gov't and put the owness of doing stuff right back on you and I. Representative gov't is pretty funny, as it is about as communist of an idea as I can think off. Letting 1 preson represent the ideas of 100s of thousands of people... I think we used to call that guy King, and he did basically whatever he wanted. Sounds like our current congress to me.
