That would explain the large difference in runtime then. Being in sensored mode the whole time seems to really effect efficiency. Try out the Smart Sense hybrid mode sometime, you'll get the smooth startup and braking of sensored without sacrificing as much of the sensorless efficiency.

Update!
I received my Tekin T8 4038 2000kv motor and installed it in my E Revo along with the MM Pro. Yeah I know, it's a 1/10 esc, but I had to try this. The excellant Engineering of a well made Castle ESC and the Tekin 4 pole sensored motor. 4S Lipo is feeding the power, plus I'm only shooting for about 40mph. We're not shooting for the moon in terms of speed, so amp draw should be manageable. A 52 Mod 1 spur was installed along with a 22 tooth pinion on the motor. This proved to be too much. The ESC was getting uncomfortably hot and so was the motor. However, it did run like a raped ape. So I backed off on the gearing somewhat. I believe 19/52 to be the sweet spot as far as gearing goes. Temps are well in hand, but it's making good solid power. It also has ZERO cogging on startup. Smart Sense is at work. Low Speed control is so good in fact, shifting into "crawler mode" is just a matter of taming the trigger finger. I love it! This is the smoothest setup I've ever owned. Way to go Castle! :yipi: |
Wanna see a picture of my setup?
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...m/DSC07988.jpg The MMM hold down was used by putting some velcro under the MM Pro. This holds it very well. It also provides a nice place to mount the ON/OFF switch. I did add a cap to the power leads of the MM Pro. The ESC fan does run, but only feels warm to the touch. It doesn't run long if I'm not running it hard. What you see behind the motor, is another ESC mounting platform. This is held in place by the shock mount screws. It has velcro on top of it. The purpose this serves: My Eagle tree data logger has the female velcro on it. When I want to log a run, this is where I stick it. Then it can simply be pulled loose and plugged into the computer for downloading data. |
Going to the track this weekend for the first time with a mmp/1900 T8 setup in my rc8. I set the bec to 6.0 volts for the 7955 servo. My question is will i have any glitching probs running that many volts to a powerful servo... i have a 2nd mmp i was thinking of setting the bec to 4.8 just in case
|
That exact setup(1900Kv Tekin motor, 7955 servo, RC8 buggy) works flawlessly in my RC8 - I think I even have the voltage set to 6.5 volts and I run it on 5s. :)

thanks Mike, next time i need something online i know where i'm going to get it:mdr:

i sent a mmp back to castle about 5 weeks ago for cogging and then puffing smoke, while it was off i bought another and it did the same thing, it goes back to castle today. the replacement castle sent me ran a tekin t8 in my rc8 saturday perfectly, very happy with its performance! it was tagged "new stock", i was wondering what was different about it?
|
ok, got both mmps back from castle :yipi: one works great, haven't got a chance to try the other yet... will a mmp be able to handle a tekin 2650 on 2s in smartsense on a small indoor track in an rc8?

what kv t8 should i look for to pair with my mmp to use in my summit looking for 40mph MAX
running 4s? should i get a cap or is that the same as running there external bec wich i plan to get |

The Cap promotes cooler ESC temps by helping tame Ripple currents. The Addition of a BEC will also. A Summit with this setup will be way cool. |
what servo are you using ? iv found a jr z9000t for a great price just not
sure if i wanna go mud bogging with a nice servo.. |

what do you think of MMpro + CC2650kv motor in D8. I would use RX pack and mechanical brakes.
I need as light ESC as possible and since i want to use lipo RX pack and mechanical brakes MMpro looks like it should handle it |
well i got a tekin 1700kv truggy motor threw it in the summit with a MMP on 4s
stock gearing and it was great still slow and smooth. geared up to 18t and im a little happier with the top end cuz im gunna bash it and not just crawl so it dosnt have to be super slow. on 4s with that gearing it still feels like im not getting into the rpm range that the motor really wakes up and has alot of torq but its got enough for me so far. i may grab a 2000kv later if i find one local. anyone know what its costing for on nonwarranty repairs on these motors ? |
