Why can you only gear this monster for 45mph? I thought with more power we would beable to gear this thing up higher than the smaller motors.

You can gear it for 45 mhp easily with 6S Lipo. The problem here is that it was 5S for more than 50mph with a heavy truck. The motor has no problem to handle that, but it was too much for the ESC and wires.
At the end of the day, you need power for accelerate your truck from 0 to 50mph, and if it is heavy and if you voltage is low, you need high current. The smaller motor cant handle this without heating, but in this case its the ESC which cant handle it ^^
Power = Volt * amp To reduce amp you need more volt and gear down for same top speed.

its a paid backorder, they don't have any large 6 cell packs in stock and they haven't for some time

That kinda sucks on the lipo backorder issue- have you concidered getting a refund & looking at other similar lipos/ elsewhere?

I see! I was having a bad day when I posted that. So since he was running less volts and geared higher the system was pulling to much current. Thats why I am going with a 6s pack, I wanted higher voltage so the AMPs wouldnt go sky high because I knew this motor would call for it.

OP how are you geared for 50mph? I punched in some numbers and something is not adding up if you are running 5s or I put something in wrong.

Tire Diameter (inches): 5.84 proline Badlands on maximizer beadlocks
Tire Ballooning (inches): 0.1 tires are taped and wraped so im not getting much if any balloning
Motor Current Draw: 0
Motor Coil Resistance: 0
Spur/Pinion Ratio: 2.42 : 1
Total Ratio: 9.90431 : 1
Tire Circumference (inches): 18.98 inches (481.97 mm)
