My great great grand parents came here in the late 1800's they had to learn (read and write) english why the hell can't the new immigrants whom are legal or not do the same ? Why do we have to change our well established rules to accomodate them ? I haven't much of a problem with new transplants except the ones whom come here and make no effort to be legal (Pay taxes, aquire a green card, etc)
If I went to Germany or Mexico I try my damnest to learn some of the language to get around with , it seems here they make zero effort ? |
Well without enforcement it really doesn't matter. Unfortunately this is not the only problem this nation has at this point.
I give credit to Arizona though. They are the first to have a backbone and stand up against the Feds. When the rest take this initiative, I don't know. |

As far as slavery is concerned, wasn't it started by one of their own that sold them to "whitey"? Funny how that gets glossed over though. At any rate, no one in this generation enslaved this generation of black people, so they need to stop trying to play the race card just to get special rights and entitements.
As far as Native Americans are concerned, I feel for their ancestors. Honestly, I do. We had no right to come here and take over, and then "graciously" give them tiny allotments of land. But that's in the past now, and it's time to move on. Illegal immigration is illegal. Period. Just the fact they are here sucking off the system and taking jobs (don't tell me that they only do jobs that Americans won't do because that's bull) boils me. Politicians are so concerned about not offending anyone and taking care of everyone else that we are ignoring our own people, which by the way are the ones that pay taxes to support these crooked politicians. Makes me damned ashamed to call myself an American sometimes. |

Just a joke cameltoe ;) I can't really get my outrage meter up on this one. I live where there are a ton if immigrants from all over (Phiily/NJ/NY) and everybody speaks some level of English (as well as a million other languages.) It seems like it pretty much takes a generation to integrate, but most people get there. Anymore English is becoming the defacto world language and the language of prosperity. If you don't speak it, you won't go far in the global economy or in the US. That's incentive enough for most 1st gen families I've met to push their kids towards English. Problem is there are so many immigrants all at once, we're a bit behind on the integration clock. Its happened before in US history (such as the hated Italians/Irish/Catholics) and this too shall pass. |
The Native American thing as true as it is really doesn't apply to today. I didn't do it and no one is left that had it done to.
Most countries were immigrated to in the first place. Last I checked Great Brittain didn't originally have English speaking Limeys running around either. Spanish wasn't the primary language of South America either, and surely many parts of the Middle East were not Arabic. You kind of have to focus on the here and now. That ebonics garbage will only fly so far, no one will get a serious job making good money talking like that less they be an athlete or rapper. Much past that your screwed. Same goes for talking like back woods white trash unless your Larry The Cable Guy (and if you ever heard him in real life he sounds nothing like his character). Of course the smart ones learn to talk to their audience anyway. I can speak comfortably in almost any company by adjusting how I talk and words I use. I have black friends that can speak like a well breed Harvard White Boy but can brother it up around others. In fact one of the most articulate people I know can do both very well. The funniest to me is some coon ass friends that go from perfect white boy English to back woods Louisiana talk in the next sentence. Hell that stuff sounds like a whole different language anyway. |

I've met tons of FOB Indians and Africans who speak better English than some of the people that have been here for generations. 0_o What's funny is we were selling my wife's old carSubaru on Craigslist recently, and as a goof I searched for "sh!t" and "F*%k" in the F/S section. I didn't actually expect to see many results, but the ones that came back were gold. (way more than I guessed.) The best post was a guy who managed to nail the S-bomb, F-bomb, and the granddaddy N-bomb all in the same F/S post for some POS grand marquis with 24" rims. Quote:
-" I don't know dear, we're too white and nerdy. Did you try urbandictionary.com?" "Ah.. Thanks Honey, I found it" You could actually pretty much guess what race, personality and/or class people were just by their car and post. This might be a good drinking game... Clearly formatted and grammically accurate English selling a Subaru => Nerdy Whites. lol |
That was funny right thar I tell ya I don't care who ya are!

Edit: So i called the guy and it went like this from what I can remember and actually comprehend: phone ringing (ringback tone is some rap song) Yung Money: Yo who dis? Me: Yo yo yo I be callin about your Grand Marquis for sale. Yung Money: I am tired of Motha Fuggas callin bout my damn car it be sold already Me: Well why it still be on craigslist then? Yung Money: I tooked it down but motha fuggas still be callin me and shyt. Me: Wow that be a mystery. Yung Money: Stop fuggin callin me bytch. (hangs up) I encourage others to call him about his car as well! |
That's even funnier than the original post, you should have recorded it!

hahaha, that's awesome. I was thinking about calling and asking a bunch of stupid suburban hippie questions, like if he knew the recycled content of the car, if he could estimate the carbon footprint, and if the trunk could hold all my organic, free-trade groceries from Whole Foods. I'm guessing I won't get far. :)
|
Please finn do that and record it so we can here it all. The hippie thing would be classic!
