Memorable

All good advice. First off you stated that we already have a Subaru and whatever. What you meant to say was that your dad has these cars. Nothing is yours until you buy it yourself. You need to start low and work your way up. Like it was stated your very own first car will be memorable no matter what it is. I grew up very poor and didn't even get my liscence until I was 21. By then I had already been in teh US Navy for 3 years. It was then in 1981 that I had saved enough and bought my first car. It was a 1979 Toyota Corolla Sport Coupe Delux. It was gold with gold wheels and white wheel wells. Since then I have had some very nice sports cars, 4X4's, pickups, motorcycles, and some minivans. You will remember your first car trust me. Being so young you need to start out with something that you can easily maintain, repair yourself, and afford on your own without any help from mom or dad. Trust me they will respect you for doing it that way. Diving a car nowa days is not cheap. Especially if you comute to and from work more than a few miles. Insurance, gas, general maintenance items, tune up parts, tires, and the occasional traffic ticket all can add up very quickly.

The point is you really do not want to be spending every single penny you make on your car. You still have to keep a young lady happy, buy clothing, and eat. All you need for a while is a Hoopty that will get you from point A to point B without being pushed. Good luck with that.

Random fact at my school we lost the privilege to drive tractors to school after a kid let his blade down and ripped out the speed bump.

Hah! We had that happen at our school too! They even banned us from parking grain trucks in the parking lot.....

I have to agree on the pickup. Get a mid 90's Dodge or Ford diesel pickup (ones that aren't so tough to work on), and slowly hop it up. Then when those yuppies in their daddy's beamers try to race you, you can give them a rolling smoke show as you blow by them! They wont know what hit them!!!:gasp:

We had a lot of crazy stupid kids at my high school and no joke there was probably one car accident every few days. We had our own dedicated police officer. No matter where you park you would get door dings and scratches on your car. We had a ton of bomb threats and fire drills and the teachers would take you out to the parking lot to wait. Kids wouldn’t think twice to sit on your bumper or use your car as a desk. You are way better off getting something cheep / reliable now and saving for a sports car. As a side note winter tires and rims can be expensive if you do decide to get the sports car now.
