yes because we are doing mainly high speed runs and we were having issue with the DSM RX. so we used external battery to help us with that and so far it has worked fine....

yes please...that would be terrific :yipi:

I have been siting on my mugen for quite a while and your build has inspired me to dust it off and start the process again. I have already stripped it down and removed the nitro gear so it is ready for a mount and battery trays. I really like your idea of the dual trays and anchoring it to the center of the chassis as well as being one piece as well

thanks again for the pics..much appreciated. What is the point exactly of locking the spur anyway. Just curious

magman 09.29.2010 08:41 PM

I forgot to ask...how does it handle. I know it's very fast, but on a track how would it do compared to a stock nitro version. Three of my friends have the mrx-3 as well and I would love to show up with mine all converted and see how it would compare

locking the spur use can use drag break instead of another servo........also keep in mind that this was a 2 speed and we are using the 2 gear which in on a one way bearing. which will not engage unless the 1st gear get up to speed ..hope this help

well it handle great but you will have to set the punch down some so that you want spin out from a dead stop or learn to really feather the throttle....it is ridiculous fast. so if you setup for a track i think you will be very happy

On my mugen I already removed first gear. I will try the drag brake set up as well.

I know all to well about punch control as well. My mbx5T is set at 70% to help reduce wheel spin and prolong my battery with my 1520 5S set up.

Have you tried your set up w/a 4s set up? I like the 4 or 5S set up w/a 2650 castle or Tekin motor. I would prefer to use 4s to help keep weight down but, 5s is just more fun!

thanks again for all of your help and thoughts

2.5 years ago I made a BL track as well. With a upper-shassie I molded myself in CF I was able to pack the 6s Lipo-weight in the center of the truck (i had to move the drive train slightly as well).

I still drive it from time to time. The problem is that the total lipo pack has to be less than 4" * 4", so the selection is limited. Motor was the Lehner 2230, ESC MGM-compro.

It's mighty fun, but requires some space...

magman 10.06.2010 04:42 PM

You are so right about the space. These cars accelerate so quickly that the edges of your track seem to come out of no where
