I wish he would post some discharge graphs - All I saw were pictures of a brass band

pinkpanda3310 10.13.2010 09:42 AM

LOL Neil you knew everyone here knew brand P was sh!z, so thanks for sharing the brass band. It was mesmerizing :eyes:

You're welcome.

Im just waiting for brand P's reps to chime in here and call us bullies and haters again- or perhaps we could discuss it in private...

Yes. Yes they have. Sad isn't it?

johnrobholmes 10.13.2010 12:22 PM

MIstercrash- he posts the house brand 35c discharges in there too.

He did but what I see is the Elite 850mah 25C was tested @ 17 amps, the Elite 1000mah 35C was tested @ 20 amps and the Elite 1300mah 35C was tested @ 26 amps. It's all close to their claimed max C rating but not quite. I would like to see tests done on those same cells @ 21 amps for the 850 cell, 35 amps for the 1000 cell and 45 amps for the 1300 cell. Maybe they're not afraid of doing that but it's just that the equipment they use can't put higher loads on the cells? Anyway, I'm just being finicky I guess, I love that they went through the trouble of doing these tests and share the results. And I am impressed with the performance of the Elite cells. I'm hoping they do more tests on other cells like they mentionned.

As has been discussed ad nauseum here & in previous threads. It would be great to see a benchmark discharge test & graph for all common cells as well as tests at respective claimed discharge ratings. Very few manufacturers would be keen to assist/supply for that style of testing

Brian have you given your testing rig any more thought or did the components fall victim to the flood?

GOOD POST, GOOD READ, AND GOOD REVEAL. I not only read through it and found it very interesting and revealing, but I copied the info and sent it to brand P. I found that identifying brand P to be quite easy myself. Who knows what kind of response I may receive, but I thought it would be interesting to see how they reply. I sent it with a respectful inquisitive note asking them for their comments. I do not lean one way or another personally, but getting info from the horses mouth is always interesting. I purchased Lipos from brand P when they first started selling them, and have not purchased any since. I personally find it sad when any company posts up claims on their products not only without any kind of backing, but just has to know that the product is sub par to what it is being advertised. I believe the comparison in this post most revealing, and seems to be on the up & up. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Please post up the response when/if they even bother to send you one lol. I am betting on them never replying to you at all, they dont have the balls. But if by chance they do I am betting on it sounding like a politician answering a question.......you know the kind where they just turn the question around and rephrase it so it sounds like an answer but it really isnt. lol

I think if a pack has X c rating it should hold that at the given voltage of 3.7 volts per cell for at least 30 seconds.

It's funny how some make this out to be harder than it is to have a simple and understandable standard.

Just as an example of what I mean.

If I have a 14.8 volt 5000 mah pack rated at 25c then I believe it should hold 14.8 volts at 125 amps for 30 seconds while also keeping a safe temperature. It's plain and simple.

I agree. Hold nominal voltage at rated current for some standardized amount of time. Perfect.

JERRY2KONE 10.13.2010 07:22 PM

Funny.

Its actually funny even talking about this as if they don't already know what their cells are, or are not capable of. If we the consumers have already figured out how they should be rated, then you can bet that they the professionals have already considered and probably done this type of testing on their cells, but of course refuse to show them obviously because it would more than likely ruin their overall sales. No one who invests a fair amount of capital into a product wants to share any unfavorable news about that product, before they can get them off the shelves. Its not like these guys at brand "P" are not into this hobby, and have not used their cells extensively. I have to believe that they have used their own products in various situations, and compared them to others out of pure curiosity. But someone at brand "P" is obviously a great advertizing professional and realizes that if you wrap up a pile of dog crap with the right package a ton of people will buy it thinking that they are getting a good deal.

+1 all the turnigy packs i use for racing have worked as well if not better than the more expensive pack i had in the past. sounds as if someone here could do well to test lipos independantly and post TRUE results for a small fee to these companies as a confirmation of quality.... ahem Mr. G:lol:
