Those rims and tires look pretty sweet on there Tim, hope they dont promote axle twist or any probs.
Anxious for some video !

My 10 year old was taping so go easy on the video please.

Here is a short vid of the second run.
We were trying to do some high speed runs, and had a rash at 47 mph (radar) as I was giving the truck more throttle. haha
Broke a stock rear a arm in half.

And I'll say it here, too - nice build.

What is wheel base and such?
I like the looks of this one.
Sweet build up.

Bondonutz 11.25.2010 11:51 AM

HOLY CRAP TIM, That thing is nassssssty !

12s yanks thats big beast around like 4s in a Rustler, looks great .

doo540 11.25.2010 05:51 PM

the wheel base is about 20 inches
truck weight is 30 lbs!!!!!
The tires are 8.50 inches tall and 4.50 inches wide.

BTW I know this is wrong, BUT the truck is geared for 80 mph.......
I have no doubt it would get there if I could keep the front end down.

Have you contemplated putting a seat on top for one of the kids ? JK

This is the very first vid. Camera guy is a little shacky, but stick with it, there is some good action, lots of rolls and flips, donuts in the grass, dirt and pavement. I do a couple of speed runs toward the end using up all the room I have. This is with the Proline tires which just couldn't hook up.

I'm planning on installing the new Castle Creations combo as a comparosin between the 12s and 8s setups.

Patrick from Castle said the 12s and 8s setups should have about the same output do to the 8s being able to handle more amps.

I will probably move the 12s setup into a Kalee 4x4 baja. That truck will look very much like the HPI baja but have 4 wheel drive, wider wheel track and a touch longer wheel base. I hope to have that project done before spring time.

Absolutely mental!
Just wondering if there has been any update?

Were these vids done using the castle ice hv 160amp esc???

GEARED FOR 80mph!!! in a 30lbs truck!!! With HUUUUGEEE Tyres!!!

How was the ESC Coping??? did it get hot? did you take temps? do you have a fan on the esc?

I want to run one in my xxl savage wheel base of 17" on 9s... but if this esc can handle your mental setup... im sure it can handle my 17-18lbs truck!

Awesome machine!

Awesome videos dude, and very nice setup...

sorry guys, I haven't been paying attention to this thread. Busy on FB. haha
Updates? the truck is apart right now, we are trying to get out from under all the snow here in Michigan. I had big plans of redoing the steering setup. I have all the CAD data, some parts have been remodeled, but I'm currently averaging about 70 hrs a week of regular work, so I'm not real interested in doing anything baja related.

I'm using the CC Phoneix 160 HV. No fans on the esc, the Neu motor has a built in fan in the front. I geared it for 80 hoping to "tame" the power, it kind of worked, with the big tires I can drive it now in a straight line under almost full throttle. The stock size tires were a joke to use. Lipos are at about 90 degrees from what I remember, esc is warm, but by no means hot.

I do have a temp gun, but didn't use it much because everything is so cool.
The ESC will handle your 18lb truck without a problem at all. But remember it doesn't use the car software so it will not drive as nice as the MMM. For the 200.00 I paid for the esc and the performance I get from it (nice big smile every time I drive it) it is worth it.

Jahay 02.17.2011 07:09 AM

when you say it does not drive as nice as with an MMM... how does it really differ? apart no brakes and reverse?

Im just interested in pushing biiiiiggg power through my truck haha

doo540 02.17.2011 12:54 PM

the Ice doesn't have the nice step over like the MMM for throttle control. Its very drivable, just not as smooth as the MMM. A newbie wouldn't notice but after driving the MMM in all of trucks I could tell right away. The Ice will work for you, get one and get driving.

Hey Tim, have any experience with the hydra esc line? Just trying to find someone who has used the boat and sir escs who can tell me how they compare.
