When the gears from direct drive get worn out, is there replacement available, as I haven't seen any on the site.

Im sure you would be able to buy them from him. But thats another thing that might be bad about this tranny, is that you just cant go to your LHS and get the gears for it.

I didn't see and price tag on replacement gears, so when its worn out it can be very expensive. Or maybe not.

I spoke with him and he said all of the tranny parts are available. Not sure how much though.

toplakd 01.03.2011 08:49 PM

I'm sure that the parts are available, but at what price tag.

Have any of you read the latest RC Driver magazine? They built a 1/5 scale Savage with a massive motor and 8s LiPo. They also used the V2 direct drive tranny.

Apparently it can withstand a nuclear blast!

Maybe I'll put one in my Baja 5b.:na:

I heard that too. Yeah I don't expect it to be even close to RCM quality or durability. I am curious though.

Not at all it seemed to work out ok with a big baja bug body.

I can't link Kershaw's webpage but there is a full write up and video on there. For some reason you can only link his home page.

Just look under his "media" tab and it's the first article.
