newb quest......?


whats really the difference in radio controlers???

dont they all do the same thing, let you drive the car......

ok, some have digital readouts on them for battery performance and lap times, but who really needs that stuff unless your flying and need to pay attention to your battery life to not crash a plane or heli ????

some take AA batteries, some take a rechargable pack i think right?

so whats really the advantages of this, and dont you need to get a new reciever inside the car then too?

i've always thought that you could use the same controller for multiple cars, as long as you change the crystals when you change cars, am i right or wrong about this?

i need to know because with as much as im upgrading my t-maxx and stampede BL (eventually), will i have to upgrade to a high performance controller too?

Well the model memory is good for different cars. You don't need to change crystals if they are the same frequency. When you change cars you need or have different center for steering and shifing. You can adjust the end points on the better controllers as well for shifing steering and throttle. Helps control truck more if you cut the throttle back some. If you buy one and drive it for little bit. You won't want to go back to stock.

so if i "eventually" dicide to go that route also, can i still use the stock traxxas reciever in the truck, or does that need upgraded also?

Unlikely. The stock TQ3 reciever is 27MHz AM. Most aftermarket radio systems will be either 40MHz or 75MHz, and the spektrum's are 2.4GHz. Plus any aftermarket radio system worth buying will work on FM as opposed to AM. Lastly, most aftermarket radio's are synthesized, whereas the stock radio uses crystals.

So basically, if you plan on buying any half decent radio system the stock reciever won't work.

not to mention all the good ones have thinks like adjustable epa, ext, dual rate steering, ect. many of which are useful with brushless. for example, i have to use brake epa on my radio to tame my brakes because on my 9920 there are REALLY strong.
