Castle Vapor Pro waterproof ESC?!?!?!?! Nice!

The battery box looks different than the Flux Box's too. Hopefully an improvement...

Looks like a slipper built into the tranny?

Bondonutz 07.02.2011 09:35 PM

Hmmmm, looks like I'm putting another mini on my wish list ?

JoFreak 07.03.2011 10:06 AM

Just took another look at the parts list.
Apparently the XS uses the same diffs as the Bullet MT and ST use.
But they use these diff pinion gears without a shaft: http://www.hpieurope.com/piw.php?lang=en&partNo=101216
I'd prefer this kind of pinion: http://www.hpieurope.com/piw.php?lang=en&partNo=86031

I think they would be easier to shim correctly, but what do I know?
What do you guys with more experience think? Is this going to become an issue?
Especially with the rediculously over powered motors we all know will eventually be shoe horned into the XS?

is that the new 4 pole motor ore the 2 pole?

Not so Xtra Small after all, only a few centimeters shorter and less wide than a 2WD Stampede.
Anyone recognises the "powered by castle" ESC?

edit: Listed for $310US on tower, no release date though

that price is great, tower is always alittle high before something is out. if it stays around $300 i will get one for sure :yipi:

JoFreak 07.04.2011 08:18 AM

You think 310$ is a little high?
Just put your 75$ email coupon code in and you are at 235$.
If only tower didn't rip off us international customers in terms of intl. shipping.
I bet you it's goind to be "package to big for USPS (strange, since amain ships the same kits with USPS) =>85$ shipping with UPS.
And UPS adds another 10-20€ (15-30$) for taking care of customs, no matter if I want them to or not.
Which DHL (they deliver USPS shipments in Germany) does for free.

Long story short, I would be happy if I only had to pay 310-320$ shipped.
But it's most likely going to be 300-320€ (435-465$) until I actually hold it in my hands...

New details on hpi europes site - http://www.hpieurope.com/kit-info.ph...&partNo=106572 , it uses 12mm hex . They also show a overview , wheels and tires and some hop up parts .

rcanka 07.21.2011 08:41 AM

"The over-sized suspension design makes the Savage XS extremely tough and capable of handling even the wildest bashing action. Aluminium 14mm hex hubs allow the mounting of almost all standard 1/10th scale wheels."

Where did you get 12mm from? :)

justpassedu 07.21.2011 09:37 AM

I think it's a mistake , everyone on boards all over is saying 12mm , they state wheels from many popular 10th scale vehicles will fit and most 10th scales run 12mm . Only time will tell my friend .... Well just have to wait and see.

If you go to hpi europes site then click wheels/tires for the xs flux it shows all 12mm as options - http://www.hpieurope.com/kit-info.ph...&partNo=106572

rcanka 07.22.2011 01:09 AM

I didn't notice before, thanks for the heads up!
Now the next question is... this mildly upgraded or a stampede 4x4 mildly upgraded?

justpassedu 07.22.2011 07:47 AM

I honestly don't know how many mm's there gonna be I see and hear so many different things now. I hope 12mm. As for this or the stampede , that's a tough choice. Iv personally owned 4 slash 4x4's already , pretty much same as the pede , there great cars . It's really personal preference , I just got sick of them and wanna try something different. I also like castle's systems better than the traxxas vxl's. You can tune the castle system and they seem to have less problems. From what Iv read the pede doesn't really handle so great but you can always tune and adjust. It's hard to say what to get until the new savage mini comes out. I'm getting the savage bc personally I owned a nitro version way back and it was tough , then I owned the brushless savage flux hp and it was tough as nails and a my favorite truck I had so I'm hoping the xs can live up to it's big brothers name. Plus there pretty cheap for what you get.

rcanka 07.25.2011 02:18 AM

Yeah, it's not a lot of money.
But I'll wait until there's a fair comparison in which one bashes best. :)

TexasSP 08.10.2011 01:58 PM

I like the looks of it. Already coming with a Castle ESC/motor combo is a big plus for me over the Stampede 4x4. Plus, I think it looks better. I never have owned my own savage but this looks like it's good for some high speed fun around the house.

Ok, so I'm trying to figure out which lipos will work for it, considering the battery box is 143mmx47mmx31mm

As far as 2s lipos, almost all of the standard 2s lipos will work, even 2s race hardcase packs that use bullet plugs in the case itself, as long as you use 90 degree bullet plugs.

Here's a nice Turnigy 6000mah 2s 25c hardcase lipo 132x45x29mm $27: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=19169

For 3s, I've been looking on HK to see what will work. I've come up with these:

Turnigy 3s 30c 3600mah lipo 137x42x22mm $26: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dproduct=14966

Zippy 3s 30c 4000mah harcase lipo 137x47x32mm $29 (I'm really interested if we could get this one too fit, best specs I've found so far and hardcase): http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dproduct=16769

20c Version too $27: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dproduct=16767

Zippy 3s 30c 5000mah hardcase lipo 137x46x32mm $37(Even better? 5000mah?! Maybe a typo on the dimensions, but i would go to some lengths to make this fit.) http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=16770

20c version $31: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=16768
