I could only see the pack having slightly more surface area to dissipate heat, and even this I am not sure of.

The only discharge test I have seen coming close to its max continuous rating was Everydayflyer on RCGroups testing the 3s 45C 2200mah Hyperion pack, at 42C continuous discharge the voltage is well acceptable, plus the pack temp is at a still safe ~140F.

Everydayflyer has NEVER tested a Maxamps pack (from the list I saw), and probably never will as maxamps KNOWS that it will simply not return a remotely acceptable discharge graph, let alone for it's ratings.

Good to see these guys know Brandon and MA in general is all hype and B.S.

I'll be happy to test one of their packs out.....in my onroad car that does 60+. That car abuses batteries as the constant braking/full throttle are torture on all electronics. Of course when it puffs, we can all have a good laugh

Can anyone educate me on the '200a' setup they have?

I've been toying with the idea of getting 20-30 high watt resistors to have fun with:whistle:

I've got a bunch (160) of 50w 3ohm resistors lying around available for sale if interested. There were going to be used for a battery-testing rig, but never got around to it. They are 50w each, but do need to be heatsunk/fanned for them to truly dissipate 50w (by themselves, they'd be good around 10w). Here is a pic of the resistors (and a CRT.5 for scale):

PM me if interested...

Yes, I can see how Maxmumps just discovered 2p, they were looking thru the return bin (thats right, MA used to accept returns way back when they 1st came out, I even managed to swap out defective batteries for "good ones") and came across one of their old 6000 packs (3000 cells in 2p config) and figured they could bring that back with a twist!!!

I really have to give it to these guys, no end to their marketing!

I remember well how the 2p packs performed. One cell would do all of the work, and the other would just slowly die. Once you tried to push the pack, the "good" cell puffed.

I bet I pulled apart 100 of MA's 2p packs and made 1p packs out of the useable cells. The 4000 cells were not bad, you could run a crawler or something brushed with them. They were solid 10c cells. The 3000 cells could barely power a cell phone.

What is this Bondo? Zippy workshop?

Bondonutz 07.02.2012 10:28 PM

Its a actual picture of MA HQ back in the garage days, a forum member here (forgot who?)did the "art work" and posted it years ago.

If you look under the P's in Zippy on the wall you'll see rolls of MA pack decals.

Ahhh, yes, the elusive Holy Grail of the lipo world; those flame stickers are worth more than gold since they at least triple the performance of anything they are affixed to.

I think you're onto something there. you can get Zippys at less than $20 for a 2s 5000 mah. Test it to make sure both cells are good. Then find some nice flame stickers and put a MaxCramps label on it. Guaranteed to be able to charge $50 a lipo for them!!

Who you kidding ?
The MA decals raise retail automactically to at least $100.00 !?

Well I was trying to give a bargain while still giving the super flames power!

I just realized that MA took the approach of Coors Light. Blue flames on the stickers means packs are cold just like the blue mountains on the bottle. However, Coors bottles don't remotely puff, catch fire, or provide disappointment...

Coors doesn't claim that their alcohol content is 600 proof either....
