My experience?? Actually, the customer support was okay, but those particular cells are not what they claim to be (12C).
My experience, and bottom line here: You get what you pay for. And when it comes to batteries, I will not spare expenses anymore. Cheaper in the long run. |
So they were much lower than 12c?
|
They can hold a 12C continuous discharge. However, they will put out ~3400mah at that point. At 10C they will put out slightly more than 4000mah.

I'm pretty happy w/ the TruRC cells I got. I ran last weekend for around 40 minutes on a single charge and then the tires started coming off my rims so I had to quit. They werent even dead yet. Still had over 7.4v in the 2 cell and over 11.1 in the 3 cell when I checked them using my Watts Up meter. I probably could have run another 10-15 minutes before the cutoff. Mind you this was not race conditions, just bashing around some local BMX jumps and some speed runs in a open grass field nearby.
Like I said, for the $ I can not complain. I'm sure that there are better cells availble, but for me these are fantastic. Time will only tell how they hold up over the long term. When he gets more stock in a few weeks I will probably be ordering another set. |
Lipo help. I just got an Apache 14.8v 3700 mAH Lipo pack, will I have any problems running it in 5 min race powering a Feigo 9l E-revo?
|
None at all, you will be able to run 10minutes if not more!

Orion 4800's
I know they are salty but thay have no equal as far as power and quality goes. And with my quark 125b controller they look slick.
|
Even though they may perform well, the thread title utilizes the word "inexpensive," which contrasts sharply with a certain aspect of the Orion/Peak 4800mah Lipo.
|
Good point
I have read a fair share of horror stories about lipo's turning into mini plasma cutters, destroying multi thousand dollar planes and starting house fires. It might not be the best place to save money. Kookam is the premier lipo producer you may want to stick with packs produced by them. Its like buying a cheap motorcycle helmet it may work fine but what if it doesn't?:032:
|
Kokam isn't necessarily "premiere." They tend to overrate their products, like their 1500mah 10C cells, which are in reality more like 6C cells.
In the airplane world, there aren't many people that use Kokams anymore. Part of the reason for that is because FMA Direct is no longer dealing with Kokam, but this biggest reason is because you can get a pack that is just as good as a Kokam pack for a lower price. |
I hope that they show me some justice because I bought a pair of MaxAmps Lipoly 9000mah 2S3P 7.4V batteries to go in my soon to be souped E-Maxx.

You shouldn't have any problems with that battery setup supplying enough power.
