The 380C 6L will likely push a Rusty somewhere around the 33-35mph range. I've got the 6L in my T3 and have GPS'ed it at 33.5mph on 6- GP3300's. It would also pull wheelies pretty easily when I took it onto the grass.

I too think it would be worth it to wait for the Mamba Max.

The Quark may be similarly good, but there's nothing like computer programming and being able to update the ESC's software on the computer instead of sending the ESC in to be upgraded. To be honest, I haven't even programmed my Mamba Max using the throttle stick yet, it's all been done using a computer.

Anybody know when Castle is supposed to send out the next batch of Mamba's? I know the site says 3 weeks but its said 3 weeks for a while now.

I don't know when that will be, all that I'm saying is that I would wait. Two years ago they said it was "coming soon". So I'll say more will be out "real soon". :dft012:

Hi !

I've ordered a mamba max 5700 combo :004: for my new rustler xl-5 but i'm not shure about what gering i coud be runnin on 6cells ? can i go with the stock gearin? for the 12T 550 brush motor that comes with the new rustlers ?

MetalMan 08.03.2006 10:40 AM

You can try the stock gearing, but it would help to get a set of pinions, like this one:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXEX34&P=ML
That way you can play around with the gearing to find the spot where the temperature of everything will be optimal.

Which battery pack will you be using? If it's anything short of GP3300 cells, you aren't going to get as much performance as the system is capable of providing. The battery feeds the system, and the motor can only put out as much power as the battery gives it.

speedy 08.03.2006 11:16 AM

yes i have gp3300mah packs :018: how much runtime do you think i'l get ?
i,m gonna order one 2s 8000mah maxamps pack and one 3s 6000mah or maby i'l start with some 4k 8cell pack's :004:

BrianG 08.03.2006 11:33 AM

I'd read around before getting 4k batteries. rcgroups is a good place.

Since you plan to use a 5700 kv motor, that is gonna suck some current. If you go with Lipo, make sure the continuous current is high enough.

speedy 08.03.2006 11:52 AM

The maxamps 600mah cells can take 60amp's continius and 72 for 10sec and the 8000mah 96cont and 128/10sec both of these packs coud be enough right ?

MetalMan 08.03.2006 12:06 PM

I use the Maxamps 2s 6000mah pack with the 5700, and no problems. The pack hasn't gotten above 105 deg. F yet.

speedy 08.03.2006 12:19 PM

how long runtimes do you get metalman ?

MetalMan 08.03.2006 12:25 PM

I'm not sure, as I've never run for a full battery at once. I would estimate about 20mins, though.

speedy 08.03.2006 12:27 PM

that sound's very nice ! how fast does your car go with the mambamax5700 motor on 2s ?

MetalMan 08.03.2006 01:30 PM

I would estimate 35-40. It's definitely fast enough for the local track. The current setup has a very large jump on it, and most other cars/trucks were only getting to the landing or a few feet in front of it, I cleared the jump past the whole landing area, about 6 feet from the landing ramp. That was just normal track running... and then I managed to smack into a wall.
