I usually use a 3HP buffing wheel/grinder for stuff like that :p. It shouldn't be to hard by hand though. I find that the Dremel is a pain in the ass. It might also come out inconsistent.
|
I'm using Naxon or something that the hardware store recommended... Cleaned my chassis nicely - still not chrome like tho... To get the really deep marks off, I used SOS Pads - they worked great!

I find what you use to polish with by hand is important to.

I found this green stuff at a car show at the Super Dome. The stuff works miracles...Can't remember the name of it though...It can polish the bottom of a Coke can in about 15 seconds to look like chrome though :D. I'll go see what the name of it is. It works better than Mothers, Boyd Coddington, and just about all others. There was this stuff that was a pink cloth that was SUPER expensive but worked awesome. Can't remember the name of that though, either...
Edit: the name of the pink cloth is Never-Dul I think |
Squee..the never-dul stuff...we used in the service..and it can be found at walmart for less than $5.00...it's in the automotive section....
|
Ooops :dft001: Your right. I got that and the green stuff mixed up :013:. The green stuff (still haven't found out what the name is). The green stuff is like $45 or $15 a bottle to be exact, but you couldn't buy it seperate. It came in a pack of 2 green bottles of polish and one bottle of sealer. I still need to find the name of it though...

i agree, i'm going mach two thru grass and dirt....polishing means nothing but wasted time...but that's just me. Sure, i'd like a little chrome look, but these things are on the ground 95% of the time....just my 2 cents

Could it mikes mean green metal polish?
I got some stuff close to it as well. Go to a truck stop for all the good stuff. Look at the aluminum they have to polish on the big rigs. |
I like to try to keep mine nice and clean, it's asier to notice broken or bent parts, hell I havn't cleaned mine....since i broke it at the bash.....it still has mud on the rear upper racerx arms...man am i being lazy...
|
Yeah ya are! Get it runnin already man! J/K, mine is almost there. A few more test runs then finalize everything cosmetically and i'm set to roll! Still need to figure out my distance/interference isues. And resolder my connections to the motor...
|
yes i may be being lazy, but it will be done soon, I just wish I had a CC with a high $$ amount then i could fix it all at once..as is..I have to do it in chunks....a big chunk now..and then a nther in a few months...but it will be done hopefully by xmas...if everything goes to plan.....but If you keep you truck clean...it's easier to notice messed up stuff...IMO
|
I agree. Clean after every run will eliminate badly damaged parts!

Wow, 2 years? This is the one you choose to post on? Ok, well, WELCOME officially! Hopefully we'll see you around more!
