Hmmm. Maybe. I can understand what you mean, but I still think the BMW has a distinctive look. Classy and performance.

Wow! 120K! How does the Holland dollar compare to the US dollar though? Or is it just that much more over there (and why)?

I haven't run an XL so I will leave that to others. I think raw performance isn't the issue as the Feigaos run very well and are bargain priced.

But there is no doubt about the quality and efficiency of the Neu. The fact that we are stressing even the best speedos means there is a lot of value in having a good efficienat motor.

Think of it as Chevy Camaro vs. BMW M5. Both get the job done but which would you rather have? :D

Bottom line for me is that it's been priceless that I can actually race a 30 minute main with no thermal meltdowns. All the $$$ and labor you put into a project like a BL 1/8 is a waste when you can't do with it what it's made for.

May I ask what setup you are running to achieve a 30 minute main?
Do you have to swap battery packs?

Tax is killing. (we are all stupid enough to pay and pay and pay..) the goverment is taking about 40-50 percent from our pay-roll, we pay 19 percent of taxes over things we buy (food is 6 percent)

we have got a Euro currency, i calculated it back to dollars.

It IS stupid, since Germany is our neighbour country..

A minimum of 8000mah lipos and a Neu 1512 or 1515 will make 30 minutes. My truggy has a 12000mah lipo in it and would go 40+ min if I ever ran out the whole pack.

A 15 min main used less than 4000mah according to my charger at the last race. I have much more info on the setups in the "Jammin truggy" thread... and others.

Basics: MambaMax, Neu 1515 1700kv, 4s lipo, geared 12/49 to 14/49

Ok.. the car choice opened the ol can-o-worms. :)

The Camaro and M5 may not be the perfect example... but what I meant was that two cars might have similar horsepower etc and may be close in track performance but they can be vastly different in how the get it done... one car may be less refined and maybe a handful to keep on the track while another one is sheer pleasure to drive while still having equal or better performance. Maybe Viper vs. McLaren? :p

I'm partial to Corvettes personally... and I have a lot of cars I like. But the Z06 is one of the greatest sports cars ever made. IMHO I don't think I will ever get to have one though :012: :012:

It's the exception to the rule... little engine that could... the Feigao that smokes the Lehners of the world and looks good doing it. :D

It has the looks and the raw performance to run with the big boys... nothing beats it for less than 10X the price. Only the exotic supercars in the high six figure range cleary best a Z06 in a fair fight. But then how can $65,000 vs. $500,00+ ever be fair? :005:

Smileyfest :010:

Serum 10.01.2006 03:51 AM

This was about neu vs wanderer, not lmt vs wanderer..?

glassdoctor 10.01.2006 04:12 AM

"lehners of the world"... I mean any high end more expensive motors.. Neus included :)

Sorry bout that Vette rant.. I'm sure some disagree.... he he

Serum 10.01.2006 04:18 AM

Well, quality-wise it's not a comparison that can be put down in those two sports-cars. One is budget, cheap produced, while the other isn't a compromise.

baseline is that you get what you pay for, and the neu motors are not 10 times the price of an lmt.

Again, they use segmented magnets, are 4 poles and they are build with better quality standards. did i mentioned they run more efficient on partial load?

Rtsbasic 10.01.2006 06:26 AM

M5 gets my vote, even if its a bit pricey and just a little bit ugly.

I think overall the Feigao is going to work out better for me. I know its not 4 pole, or using segmented magnets, and that its built by some guy being paid $3 a day in china, but I'm not racing only bashing, so I think I'm better off getting the Feigao, and saving the dosh for something else. From the sound of it the power isn't wildly different, just efficency and in turn the temperatures and runtime. Well my 9XL never gets to the temp point where I begin to get concerned about it, so I should be okay with the 8XL.. I hope :D

Thanks for all your input guys, if I decide to race an MT in the future I know which motor I'm buying!

Serum 10.01.2006 06:29 AM

A thing to consider;

I wasted a rotor on my 8XL with bashing. one magnet got loose (the S uses 1, L 2 and the XL has 3 magnets on the rotor-shaft)

When 1 magnets get's loose, you think the controller died on you. it's acting weird at first sight.

Rtsbasic 10.01.2006 06:35 AM

Aye I've had the magnet move on a 540-S before which made it act rather strange..fortunately Mtroniks warranty replaced the whole thing for free.

squeeforever 10.01.2006 02:03 PM

Camaro all the way...I hate BMW's and I hate little ugly cars that cost alot as well as have no hopups...I could EASILY get a Camaro to 600hp at the rear wheels with 10K....Not bad IMHO...

Rtsbasic 10.01.2006 02:19 PM

But..could you stand living with a car as ugly as a Camaro? Even the styling of a Peugeot 106 is better than that!
