That I think you are correct on that one. I feel like 90 percent of RC addicts all just picked up a rustler or pede cuz it was cheap and looked fun. Then... Well we all know what happens next.

I think this is the oldest rc forum on the net. Most other places are a bunch of 14 year olds. BTW, I'm 37, but still 14 at heart.:018:

I guess I'm in the 10% then since I started with the Revo. However, I plan on getting my son a Stampede for Christmas so we can both go have fun. (Actually, when I get it, I'm going to take it all apart to make it a "kit" so we can assemble it together).

Heh, my first real RC was a Rustler...

I'm not all that old yet :018:. But I'm not 14 either... 17 is the lucky number.

I don't know what's worse;

using a word that sounds popular to use on age 30 or you need to look it up at age 42..

To be honest, that word made me expect you where like 17 cart..

I'm 30 too bytheway, i guess this forum has got a rather old gang hanging around..

Perhaps we should start a 'post your face' thread..

34 and loosing count.
I always blamed being lazy on being from generation X now I guess I can blame it for my brushless addiction too.:027:

Emaxx: Quark 125b & 7XL (racer)
Mini LST: Mamba 25 & 8000kw
Emaxx: in progress MM & 8XL (basher)
Jammin CRT: future brushless convert
And enough parts to make my spare room look like a hobby shop exploded:035:

that sounds familiar...

i have got several setups to divide over several cars.. With some of these several cars, i have got different options.. (bashing/racing/crawling kind of bashing..) i call it The stress from the hobby...

Scoob 11.11.2006 10:05 AM

I currently have:

B4 ss5800 2s lipo
T4 MM4600 2s/3s lipo
T4 GTB 6.5 2s lipo
T3 Genesis pro 540 8s 2s lipo
T3 ss4300 2s lipo
Have an MM5700 motor and a 380c 9t not in use right now.
I like Associated as you can tell:028:

Emaxx and Stampede are brushed right now.

I can't remeber all the different setups I've had because I'm constantly moving motors and ESCs around. I've not sold a BL motor or ESC yet. Been "into it" for 1 1/2 years. I'm 29.

aqwut 11.11.2006 10:33 AM

we all have too many Toys... I try to control/tell myself just to stick to one vehicle.... But everytime I do this, I find myself buying a new vehicle.... Lifes short, enjoy it if you can afford it right.....

I started with an E-maxx.. I paid almost $800 for it... :) and I bought my brother a Stampede at the same time... Clost to $400 ... and A Yokomo YR-4 at the same time too (but used $350 RTR).... the Guy at the hobby shop ripped me off, because I didn't know anything back then...

I'm neither young nor hip. :)

I've got five year old twin girls who are getting Mini Quake SE's for Christmas. I'm gonna do my best to get at least one of them interested in this hobby. No brushless for them yet, though. They need to start out with something that only goes about 15mph and isn't too big. One time I made the mistake of handing one of them the radio of my GTB5.5 pede. The result was a high speed colision into our mailbox and a broken front arm on the pede.

go4gold 11.12.2006 01:13 AM

I thought BrainG and I were the only old ones I'm 34 just got into real RC about a year 1/2 ago. A friend was running a stock EMaxx so I bougyht it off him for 250 with batts and a duratrax twin peak charger. SinceI had a stroke last Ocftober I've had lots of time for research. I'm now running a 540 8xl fageo with a bk 9920 12-14 cells. The same ones that came with the truck. I've also put RPM arms and towers all the way around.MIP CVDs on all 4 corners. My dad saw my truck and bought 0ne from e-bay. Setup very similar to mine now. He is 57 or 58.We use them for trouble shooting back and forth His arrived as a POS. Junk motors(even for stock) broken ESC, all wiring rigged with tape. I believe that I have broke 1 of everything on my truck except the tranny or diffs. Its a shame when all the 14 and 17 y/o kids have better and more cars/trucks than the rest of us

Must be that perfect age where you have a job earning money that you don't know what to do with. With the exception of maybe a car payment/insurance, the rest is pretty much disposable income, unless you are saving for college or whatnot. No family to take care of, house payments, utilities, medical bills, etc. You know what I mean.

And before one of you 14-17 year olds get on here and write that you have this expense or that bill or whatever, the above statements are generalizations. ;)

I don't feel so bad at 36 and still playing with toys.

If rustlers and stampedes are gateway drugs for rc, the novak brushless is gateway for brushless.

My previous post was the progression of 6 months, been reading and learning since the late '90s , but finally took the plunge this year
