And here I thought it was just the driver that was holding things back. After further inspection it appears my mesh was too tight. I backed off the pinion and things are much better. Thanks a lot for your input. That's why I love this place:043:

If it was running cool with bending.
You could or should be able to go up on the tooth count of pinion.

Sound reasonable to me.

Yeah, 4S2P maxxamps packs will give you more power than the movie showed!

Good to hear you found an error.

Another update

Just got a new 5S 6000mah Maxamps pack this week. Here it is at the track with the new pack. Just got an Eagletree micro logger too so here is what the packs were doing during that run. Only one intersesting point at about the 3 1/2 minute mark. Voltage dipped below 15V at the same time I registered the highest amp draw at just over 120A.

Sorry for the large files.

Interesting... Wonder what Austin thinks of that voltage drop at 20C?

Something looks weird though. That drop looks rather severe.

BTW: Nice driving.

Serum 01.07.2007 04:54 AM

That's odd.

Your 'minimum voltage claims a 15.74V, and looking at that graph makes me think that is the dip at 19 minutes.

Did you get the 6000 pack with 12 or 14 awg wire?

at 11.5 minutes, the 108A peak makes the pack drop to 16.3V.

Just remember, RCs look slower form the drivers stand... it's not the same as when you stand next to them and bomb over your parking lot ;)

Zoom in in the voltage drop at the ~3:30 min. mark by starting at the top left corner of it and dragging the mouse (while the left mouse button is held down) to the lower right corner. See if you can post a picture of that, so we can get a better idea of what that drop is really like.

Your right Serum. That is odd that the software did not register this point as the minimum voltage. There really was not anything out of the ordinary that I can think of that happened at that time that would result in that kind of amp draw. From the time that everything was plugged in and switch on to the time that the video started rolling was maybe one minute so whatever it was would have beed captured. I'm guessing that it was the initial launch (slight wheelie) after I staged the truck.

The 6000 mah pack has 12 guage wire with Deans ultra plugs. One nice thing is that I'm very pelased the Mamba Max held up for the almost 20 minute run. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to run any longer as I was having some issues with my battery straps. I'll need to make some adjustments to accomodate the larger pack. It will also be interesting to see how the system handles an addition 2T on the pinion as I just received one but have yet to put it in.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

jhautz 01.08.2007 01:46 AM

It registered it on this graph.

12.05 min
