All give and take bro, you ain't got it so bad...but when she said the comment about the power...I would have said..."cuz it makes my balls rumble too"!
Sounds a lot like my 67 Chevelle. 396 bored 60, high lift cam, roller rocker arms, 411 gears with a manual 4 speed, staggered 2-4 aluminum intake with dual (crappy) holly carbs, but it flew!!!! |
There's nothing like a big block! I had a '69 Charger R/T 440/4bbl/4speed. That car was awesome!
My friend Todd and I have a '70 Challenger, full chassis car certified to the 7.50's loaded with a 572" Wedge & 2 stages of spray. makes 1180 on the motor and somewhere north of 1600 on the bottle. I've sold out part of my interest back to him but I still build & tune the car. The Mustang is electronically (and by virtue of a low boost pulley) being held back until I can get a better shortblock & trans combo built for it. It will make better than 640hp but the shortblock would check out at that power level so I've "Tuned it" for about 540hp. can't wait to get it out this spring....it's been in storage for almost 2 years but at least I've had a chance to get the new fuel system & datalogger installed/upgraded and ready! |
I got one of them projects to procharge.
Got a 79 short bed chevy. 350 block 400 nodular crank 5140 rods forged pistons roller cam roller rockers after market heads team g intake msd ignition distrubtor wires holley 870 carb 700 r4 trans with all the goodies 3800 stall 4.56 rear with detriot locker Engine man said should be in the 500 hp range. |
That's cool Leroy! Thanks for sharing! Post pics if ya got-em. I welded in tubs in my friends dad's chevy shortbed. He had a warmed over 350 & turbo 350 trans. Ran high-12's on the sauce. Not bad for a mild motor.
I guess we're officially "off topic" but, oh-well. |
The motor went a Low9 in 1/8 with 4 wheel drive 33 inch tires and nothing lightened.
I am hoping for a mid 7 in the 1/8. Traction is key. |
Pictures????
Would be fun to see! |
It needs a paint job now. It is coming together slowly. Got cold out so haven't done as much to it lately. I try to get a few for you.

I used to have a mustang also.. street/drag.. ran good. had a 351 windsor, with world products heads, solid cam and def, carburated.. lol ran 6.90's on motor in 1/8th and 6.50's on a 125 shot, used to street race it with a bunch of peaople but hard to get a race, everone arguing over how far are you gonna set them out and stuff. anyway its long gone now..
|
Any chance you have pics of it???
Sounds like it was a nice car. BTW, what year was it? |

I "burned up" several cards building the Mustang. Trying not to do that with my RC's.....thats why it takes so :035: long to build them "right" these days! |
I'll have to look around.. it was a 93 lx hatch.. fuel cell,8pt cage .. looked good to me any way.. had a friend who was my neighbor at the time had about the same car except a trunk style, had a 306 with ported world heads big cam, cage, mini tubs ran 29 x10w slicks on the street anyway had a wreck one night and I def need to find those picks..

Cool! mine's a '92 GT Hatch, 5-speed. Stock shortblock, Stage IV TFS heads, Custom Roller Cam, Aeromotive Fuel System, Procharger (11 lbs boost) and a laundry list of parts. No cage just yet though. Ran 11.80's on the motor. Hoping for low 10's on 11lbs of boost, might even be able to squeeze out a 9.80 - 9.90 on 14lbs!

Procharged, You can do what I'm doing. Getting rid of the old lady and a lot of the bills. Only problem is now I only have half the money which seems to be working out in my favor if you don't count the added stress of divorce, selling my house, and moving. At least I got to keep all the toys. To answer the original question, ebay, rc-monster and time. It's a lot easier if you're not competing against your friends or racing
