I'm not sure it will be too effective in that configuration.

Looks like ther is a hole in the plexiglass that lets the esc sit on the heatsink.

Yes, the heatsink is mounted about 1-2mm below the Lexan and there is a cut out that the ESC sits in and is directly on the heatsink. I left room for fans to fit in there also.
