Thanks guys, I really apprciate your comments! I did plan to do the first run and get a vid today, but we got about 6 inches of snow (a lot for the UK!), so it had to be called off. :frown: With a bit of luck it'll be going by the weekend.

Coolhand: Thanks man, you've always been encouraging with this project. The shell has had quite a bit of cutting done to the wheel arches as it's quite a wide shell...the front wheels would rub badly when they steered. Still, it's sorted now.:027: Thanks for finding the old threads too...although some of those old pics make me cringe, lol! :020:

They no longer exist and didn't make many sets of the arms unfortunately, and they're not very beefy so won't take much abuse. But they are very lightweight, so as long as I don't pile this thing into a wall then they should be just fine.

Very nice Dagger Thrasher! I remember the first thread of this truck. Turned out to be one hell of a truck! I think i saw a vid of your truck on a box giving it throttle, i saw it on youtube, im pretty sure it was yours. You've come a long way man!

Coolhand...well I haven't done a proper test run yet but I got the chance to just take it out for 5 minutes on the road in front of my house to try it. There wasn't much room so I couldn't get up to any sort of speed, but WOW. Although I didn't get it above 30, the responsiveness was noticeable straight away! I have punch control set on 100%, along with motor timing on the lowest. Start power is medium. Whenever I was even slightly aggressive on the throttle, the front wheels would be scrabbling for traction (although it was damp on the road). Then I plucked up the courage and hit full throttle for about 1.5 secs from a standstill; the truck lifted the front wheels right off the ground and flipped over backwards! I know that's nothing unusual with brushless but given the VERY low CG of my truck, the 16 cells, 100% punch control and that it was done by one 5700 motor...I was pretty amazed!:eek: After the run the rear motor was warm, front a bit cooler (forgot to use my temp gun), and the transmission seems fine; that's what I worried about the most.

I didn't get a vid of this run, but maybe I'll be able to get my friend to do one tomorrow afternoon, in the dry, and in a wide open area. I can't wait! :)

Well it's official, I've done the first run! And WOW it is fast. The road was damp, so grip wasn't great but boy does it move out! I wasn't able to get hold of the guy who was meant to be videoing it, but a friend came over and recorded some clips on his digicam Sorry for the poor quality:

I was taking it very easy in those clips...I barely got above half throttle, it was so fast. Unfortunately CoolHand is right...after this run the rear diff started clicking and acting up. Luckily someone is working on a bullet-proof sealed diff for the Dagger so it shouldn't be an ongoing issue (the CVDs and wheel adaptors are still in perfect shape). Runtime was quite amazing...with the twin 4500Mah Elite packs, the truck ran for 15 minutes before we decided to go inside...and they still hadn't dumped by that point (according to my charger, they still had a good 2000Mah left in them). And as for temps...well the rear motor got to 128F which isn't too bad. It is a pretty cold day though.

What do you think of the Elite 4500's.
I recently got two 7 cell packs (14 cells at a time) for my brushless E-maxx and the seem pretty good so far. Better than my GP 3300's for power, and obviously for run time as well.
I haven't heard of many other people using them, but I'm not sure why.
The only thing I don't like about them so far is that the are not matched. But there fairly cheap.
