But once they fuse together, they'll make a better connection! :)

seth556-- Great choice! XXX-T, Mamba 5700, 3s lipo.
I have the same setup and it rocks! I currently am using a MaxAmps 3s2p 6000mah lipo. I melted a diff gear just like that a couple of weeks back. When you rebuild your diff run it totally locked and put a drop of blule locktite on the nut to keep it from backing off. I love the lipo on the street but swap it out for a 6 cell IB4200 pack in the dirt. I just don't have any fun with the lipo spinning out left and right. After reading about the new MaxAmps 5000 packs I am thinking of getting a 2s version for the dirt. I have clocked mine using GPS at 57mph on the street. Here are a couple of pics of my setup. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...3-04-07004.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...dy001small.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...poXXX-T013.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...mallcircle.jpg |
Thats a bad*ss xxx-t you got BoysToys. How do those tires hold up on the street?
|
Thanks for the compliment. The tires are holding up relatively well seeing how they are run mostly in the street. They have already lasted a lot longer than the poor stockers did.:005: I also have a set of Road Rage 2s. Those are pretty much worthless. I don't get any traction at all with them. In fact, I am thinking of putting them on and doing a burnout in the street with a little bleach.:017: It would be cool to see how much if any smoke I could produce.

It's just a 4600 motor. It has a perfect mix of speed and torque for me. It's not instantly fast, but still has enough speed to put a smile on my face.

I have a 4600 that I run on 3s sometimes. It is very powerful and as much as I would ever want. I geared it very conservatively for low current draw and still have a 40mph truck (gps confirmed) which is enough for me since I never run on the street except to use the gps. I have a 5700 motor also but 5700 with 3s is just too much for anything off road.

what spur and pinion do you run? your truck looks sweet. I have those tires and love them with the brushless. before I was running dirthogs and could never get traction. B |

I see you are running a Novak 5.5. I had one of those systems with the sintered rotor in my truck for a while then switched it out for the Mamba 5700. With the 3s lipo, I normally run 14/82 with a Robison pinion and a Losi kevlar spur. This gearing comobo keeps my temps down around 180 when running on the street. I can bump it up to 17/82 when running my 6 cell IB4200 pack and still keep the temps under control. Because I am lazy, I normally don't change the gearing when switching from NIMH to Lip. So the truck is usally geared 14/82. I am sure that I will have to adjust this once summer gets here and the ambiant temps begin to rise. Scoob- I agree with not being able to run the 3s offroad. I tried it a couple of times and could never even get past 1/4 throttle. I like to use a 6 cell packs for offroad duty. To tell the truth, the 5700 with a 6 cell on hard pack is still a handfull to control. |

I really like the wheels. they are really well balanced and look so much better than the dish rims. my buddy has the mamba, it is SO much better than the novak. I am going to build an 8th scale buggy with that lease the mamba ecs and hopefully run the new motor coming out this summer. I bought the novak before Castle Creations released the mambamax. wish I would have waited but the truck is fast enough when I am running the 8000 lipo. Just more reason to get the buggy :)

how often are you guys having to rebuild the diff? how much diff lube are you using when you rebuild it? It seems like i am having to rebuild it pretty often and I am not sure why. I typically crank it down until it is almost impossible to turn the left tire but the diff still works.
