Not so hot on the programmer either, but '07 is shaping up to be a great year in the brushless world. Can't wait for the snow to leave :) :) :)

At this point I'd be temped to try one just cause I'm so tired of waiting for MMM. Don't know why castle can't just admit they are having MMM motor problems and just release the ESC first without a motor.

nice esc i like the smallness

BlackedOutREVO 03.03.2007 02:23 AM

i like the programing thing, ery handy... this speedo has to cost a arm and leg tho, if its up to those specks, and comes with that programer WOW

jhautz 03.03.2007 02:47 AM

I just noticed some things I missed the first time.

It stores the highest temp so after a run you can plug your little programing box and see how hot it got. That is friggin sweet! No more guessing on the temp.

Built in switching BEC good for up to 30V input! About time someone did this. Having a separate UBEC is a PITA! To bad its 5.5V instead of 6V, but built in is still a plus IMO.

More than 32 steps for Adjustable Current limiter. Talk about being able to fine tune the acceleration. (32 steps might actually be overkill)

Velocity Responsive Braking System, which adjusts braking strength proportionally to the speed on the vehicle. (Sounds cool.... I wounder if it actually works)

It looks like a 25mm fan would fit nicely on the heatsink. Probably screw right in between the fins.

The more I read about this thing the more I like it!

Anyone know when its due out? This might be worth a look see.

It sounds pretty darn cool indeed!

that built in BEC and temp. monitor are new to me;

BUT!! what if the BEC dies? i personally don't see it as a PITA that you need an external BEC, since they tend to die from time to time. I do have got a UBEC on spare, but if i need to send in my controller for repair for a BEC.. that sucks..

BlackedOutREVO 03.03.2007 03:01 AM

if u fry it cant u just put a ubec on? lol if u dont think its a pain to have one

hyperasus 03.03.2007 03:01 AM

I rather like the idea of having the BEC built in. The programing device is a nifty feature but I'd still like to have the option of plugging in to a PC via USB cable.

Serum 03.03.2007 03:04 AM

I guess you never had a bec failing on you then!

jhautz 03.03.2007 03:15 AM

Serum, you could just run an external BEC if you are worried about it, but your right, then your paying for the built in BEC you dont need/want.

I personally would like it. Less wiring mess, one less component to find a place to mount, etc..

Ive had more ESCs fail on me than BECs.

hyperasus 03.03.2007 03:16 AM

Well, actually my MGM 160 built in failed on me LOL. It happens. But I still like the idea of having it built in. Even if I decide not to use it, at least its there just in case.

If the internal BEC dies wouldn't you be able to just add a UBEC like we already do, or will it affect it in some other way:032:
The hand held programer looks like it could be handy for taking to racing, but also expensive. It would be good if they make the controller USB programable and able to use the hand held one as well.
AAngel from my most peoples experience and mine, Quark has very good service. They answered my e-mails with in a day, and it took 1 week from when I gave them my address to when I received the new ESC- to Australia. I hadn't even sent them the old one yet. Obviously I would prefer it didn't burn out in the first place though. :005:
Does any one know if the hand held programer comes with it or is it an extra?, I assume extra.

Woops. Left the computer while typing this and didn't see the last few posts.

jhautz 03.03.2007 03:26 AM

I agree Patrick. My experience with Quarks service was as good or even better than CC. Quark is top notch in that catagory. No worries there Aangel.

Serum 03.03.2007 03:33 AM

Yeah, can't argue with their service. shipping takes a while for the foreigners though..

I am using a 9920 with an LVC, ubec, and you don't even notice it's there. I agree; it's more of a hassle to get it all cleaned up..

Patrick 03.03.2007 03:40 AM

I like the idea of the internal [B]switching BEC[B] if it works well and is reliable. UBEC's another thing to find a space for, wire up, keep away form the RX and have a switch for (I put a switch on mine anyway).
