Wow, the 8XL is a VERY big motor for that size truck! :dft002: You won't be wanting for torque, that's for sure! You'll probably have to gear it quite high to load the motor enough so it won't overheat. I'm using a 22T pinion and it runs nice and cool with an "S" size motor.

I weep for your tranny. Are you going to be able to find 5mm pinions in that size? If you get it worked out, please get a vid :P |
I wouldn't even bother. Do the smart thing and get a Lehner XL3100 and it should be nice and happy...

Wow, I get like 33-34 in a T4 on 2s with the 4600. My 5700 will hit 45 if I overgear to the point that it overheats quickly but on normal gearing does about 37-39. You must be running a 2-speed? If that's the case, people who say a 2-speed is useless in an electric are crazy.:003: There is no way I could gear my 4600 for that kind of speed (if it could even pull that from a dead stop) without overheating in a minute or less. That is fed by an 8000 2s lipo. I could only get 45 out of it on a 6000 3s. I use it to race on tight, small courses and the 5700 on larger ones.:dft009: |
Actually, I'm running the single speed tranny so I can have motor brake and reverse. The single speed ratio is just about in the middle of first and second ratio-wise. And I am one of those who think 2-speeds are useless. :) But, I am running the gearing a little on the high side, but the lower kv motors tend to be a little more forgiving with that from what I've seen. Then again, I don't run it at max speed for a long time since I tend to run out of room or control. :)

Well that's awesome man. Cool to see a BL jato. I'd guess you could match the 3.3 by simply dropping in a 3s. There is nothing I like more than showing up nitros.:005:

LOL. Yeah, me too.

I've 22, 24 and 26 pinion in 5mm shaft.
