Thanks for the comments, guys!

Serum - I decided to try something a little different with the tires. Both wheels are 17mm hexes :005:.

AAngel - I have yet to see a spike over 120amps. Sometimes the voltage will be at a lower point, like 11.5v (down from 12.5v) at a 120amp spike, even when the battery still has a lot left in it. So, it appears it isn't capable of going over 120amps.

Dafni - It was fine without the body :). Besides, both of my bodies for it have large cracks in them :(.

luvsrc - 5s A123 is 16.5v, 5s Lipo is 18.5v. There's a bit of a difference, but 16.5v is fine with me. I have yet to see my 540C 7XL get above about 150 deg. F, in the street or on the track. I do punish it pretty hard on the street (as you can somewhat see). With the Maxx mashers the 7XL got to about 140, and with the 1/8 buggy Road Rages it got to about 125. The Feigao 540C 7XL is pretty much the same power as the Hacker 7XL, but the Hacker 7XL should be slightly more efficient (I don't think it's enough to justify the almost doubled price).

elegal - The gearing was the same for the MT tires and for the buggy tires. I was surprised that it was going so fast even with the smaller tires.

Yeah, that's one reason why I'm going Lipo in my Hyper 8.

The A123s do have one major advantage, though. They aren't sensitive to overvoltage like Lipos are. Because of this, I haven't felt the need to balance either of my 5s2p A123 packs in a while. I've gone through about 5 cycles each since I last balanced them.

I like the GRP 17mm wheels.. they come glued with moulded foams inside. They look an awfull lot like the wheels used on the 8ight 8t..

MetalMan 04.05.2007 12:57 PM

Serum, do you mean these ones?:

Exactamundo!

They look like the real deal to me.

Moulded foams.. GRP makes good rubber. and i've seen a movie some dudes where banging on them with a big hammer..

after some searching;

Those are nice rims/wheel set. What size hex do they use? Kinda looks like 17mm.

GorillaMaxx360 04.05.2007 07:51 PM

they are 17mm nice strong rims

MM, I have to comment again, that the vid was nice. Your truck seems to run very smoothly without any hiccups. That compro looks like it's doing its job, which is a relief to me, since I just ordered one instead of the Quark.

Now that's some strange behavoir, the trumpet was nice though.so the GRP is quality gear then, that's good to know. What 17mm adapters do we like for maxxs, revos n' suc h?

DickyT 04.05.2007 09:03 PM

Those GRP wheels are crazy...

The Ofna's are probably your best bet, unless you wanna go with the RD Racing knuckles w/8mm axle kit and run buggy hubs.

I would say it runs pretty well. Even though it's the version without heastinks (it's wrapped in heatshrink with only heat spreaders), it runs at a pretty good temperature. In the same truck the MM needed a fan to keep it from thermalling. One problem with this ESC is that the BEC chip burnt out, and so now it sends the main battery's voltage to the receiver. When that happened, it smoked the receiver and servo... But with a RX pack it runs just fine. I might take the shrinkwrap off and add heatsinks to it to make it run even cooler.

Very nice MetalMan. I really like your Revo. The MGM is it? Seems to do very well! I likes!

MetalMan 04.06.2007 12:34 AM

Yeah, it's the MGM that arrived at my door as a replacement for one I sent in 6 months before I got this one!
