My input shaft has drill bits in it and so do about 4 other peoples at racing (could be more). A few years ago when other e-maxx drivers at my track started going brushless (I only went brushless recently) and kept breaking things from the power, the roll pin was one of the things they would break.

i used a hex end. it didn't even go in all the way and it still worked perfectly!
|
I found a small piece of rod that fit snug. I tacked over the ends to make sure
it didn't fall out. Still going strong. |
Mine still has the stock pin & still going strong.

rchippie what are you running? as far as motors, batteries, weight? Front/rear weight balance has a huge effect on transmission stress.

Oh right, I think I know what you ment now- never occurred to me to change that bit- works fine with the stock pin (famous last words).

People put a drill bit or something else solid in the hole to replace the roll pin. Obviously you only need to do it to the bigger gear since your going the single speed conversion. |

oh thanks i get it now;thats good advise!how is the single speed working 4u?im waiting for parts; cam locking bell cranks for steering; multi adjustable shock towers....what kind of steering are you running? |
What do you guys think, should I use some RED thread-lock on the pin I will use just add some extra hold? Probably doesn't need it if it's tight though.
